But if you can't get them wet, what happens if you ride in the rain? Obviously none of us do that in reality but it might happen to some of the Jap bike riders. Would it ruin their leathers?
Isn't this an ultimate case of OCD, for Christ sake we are supposed to be bikers, its not a Hugo Boss suit, you can't smell them when you're riding and if you really are that fussy a quick spray of helmet sanitizer or fabreeze is surely all that is needed.
I had a lovely Triumph leather jacket that I wore on tour to Germany. Got home and gave it a good clean and leather feed outside. It bloody stank after that, really rancid smell, and I tried all sorts to get rid of the smell. In the end I sprinkled a load of bicarbonate of soda (dry) on the inside and stuck it in a box out of the way for a couple of weeks. Came out smelling brand new!
I wouldnt recomend getting them too wet. I used to commute to work & back on my bikes for years and when wet leather dries out it used to be like concrete. Horrible and take ages to break back in again. Luckily my leathers have a removable lining. How about getting one of those skin tight undersuit things people wear - that absorbs sweat and stuff and is washable & will protect your leathers etc.
