she looks nicer now though coz i replaced the OE wheel nuts with some nice shiny Ti ones..oh and the sprocket nuts too (even if one did fly off somewhere).. I find that once you get the bike properly clean it then only takes 8-9 hours a day to keep on top of it.. Money permitting, i'd really like to get her crank cases repainted and the rear shock refurbed and the spring repainted..these are the two areas that let the bike down, but i am very picky about such details...
Me too funky. At the bottom rear of vertical pot where all the shit collects. I refurbed my ohlins rear shock myself and then just put clear laquer on. Buy a new spring or look for one on eBay. Theyre not too pricey. HM Racing selected a spring for me based on my weight too.
I fitted a cheap plastic kitchen towel roll holder on the shed wall, which I keep topped up with the cheapest paper kitchen towels that I can find (£1 for 4 rolls). These, in conjunction with GT85, sprayed either directly on the bike or onto a towel, are my standard method for cleaning the gunky bits.....and I have a scottoiler, so I get plenty of chain lube fling. For more serious gunk I use paraffin. I also recently discovered that meths, used very sparingly, makes a decent deep cleaner for painted items (but check first that it doesn't attack the finish). My petrol tank came up like it had just been newly painted, though of course it no longer had any trace of polish left on it. I also save all my old toothbrushes, some of which get the bristles cut short for extra vigorous scrubbing.
