Clutch Nut Removal - Which Socket?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by ck_uk, Oct 23, 2014.

  1. I have several spare sockets, Metric and Imperial / AF..........would you like me to see if I have a suitable one and get rid of any chamfer if it has one, or are you in a hurry?

  2. Hi Al, that's a very kind offer and much appreciated. I was hoping to make a start this wkd, but I'm also trying to work out whether I should buy an impact wrench (and hence would need an impact-caliber socket). If not, then I do already have a 32mm hex socket which I could grind down, but first I think I need to double check it with a blu-tack impression, as when I tried placing it over the nut it did seem a little loose, but then that might have been the chamfer causing that. So I'd probably best hack up my own tools first. The only reason I haven't done yet I guess is because I've been trying to find an off-the-shelf solution.

  3. I'll see what I can find on Tuesday........

  4. No spare of suitable size either metric or Imperial / AF.....plenty either side of 32mm though.

However, I do have a 32mm 6 Flat 1/2" square drive in my main set.......It has a 2.5mm chamfer which I don't really want to remove.

I reckon you should be able to buy an identical one from any decent tool shop.

  5. Thanks for the update Al, I'll let you know how I get on.

  6. If you get stuck for one and don't grind it down, you can borrow mine.....

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  7. Yes I clocked those on the Draper site but wasn't sure, might be worth a punt.. ta

  8. Elora should be far superior than Draper..........at least they always were.
