Any ducati one, I've got 35mm on the inside of the clutch cover to play with but I can't seem to find slave sizes, apart from piston size of 28mm.
just had a look at my clutch conversion today and the 750 plates go straight into the 916 basket,it must be the steels that are different.
Right I've got a Honda slave cylinder of a 2003 vfr800 as this was the thinnest i could find with out spending loads of money(£7.95 delivered and it's in really good condition too), I've taken out the grease seal in the centre of the piston and mounted a 19x6x6mm bearing and made a top hat to sit in the bearing and push on the pressure plate. Now I'm going to have to trim down the piston shaft by 4mm to make it fit, don't think this will be a problem as there will still be 12mm of piston travel. My only question is should I leave the spring in behind the piston? Will this help to make the clutch lighter?
Leave the spring, it's not for lightness, but to gently hold the piston out against load so when you pull the lever, you don't have to travel all the free-board 1st, so take-up is immediate.
My clutch center arrived today...no import duty  so i should get a look at the clutch tomoro, progress at last.
Just found out that the slave piston from a 900ss should fit in the hole of my piston, just need to fit a bearing in the front for the top hat, wish I'd found that out sooner.
I've nearly finished the slave, now ready for painting and I need to polish the clutch cover. Had a dry run with it at the weekend, all lines up which was my main worry.
