Maybe, I did try all sorts of angles to be fair though, the other side came out alot easier and only has a couple of marks yet I used the same technique.. I have akrapovics on my aprilia and the baffles are tight, however, they can be removed with a bit of force with a pair of molegrips, never known baffles to be so tight, I'd not wan't to do it again.
Thanks for that, they look good quality, hopefully they slide in and out for MOT opposed to hitting them in with a club hammer
Wish I knew they came with baffles fitted, I would of told the dealership to remove them before I took delivery but I honestly didn't expect this sort of resistance ! Glad it is done now, no damage to the actual exhaust thankfully, just the baffles look very unsightly now.
I'd just get some emery cloth and rub a few thou off the baffles, if you want to fit them for track days. Or if your neighbours ( understandably) don't like the excessive noise.
I will keep them aside in case I ever sell the system on but I can't see me risking re installing them, chances are they will be just as hard to get out, might treat myself to the alternative kit that was posted above if I fancy a trackday. Funny you mention that, neighbour moaned earlier when I fired it up mid afternoon, baby is teething apparently, I gave her the benefit of the doubt . I have to say I am surprised how noisy these 1299s are.. also surprised how little those baffles contain the noise, Very very anti social.
I looked at a base 1299 that had Akra cans with the baffles fitted, the guy started it in his back garden. What a freaking racket it made. He said he went up the road without the baffles, and plod stopped him for excessive noise.
I dont know why you didn't use the slide hammer method, it works. Those baffles are a tight but not an interference fit. For anyone else who reads this thread at least try using the hammer before wrecking part of very very expensive exhaust system.
An MOT advisory for loud exhaust is like a certificate of authenticity for a Panigale. Although my vote would be SORN it, buy a van and book some tracks days.
