1260 Comfort Seat - Ducati Or Touratech?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Pat Mills, Feb 28, 2020.

  1. If it's not aligning with the cut-out in the seat pan, or the risers if fitted, yes. It's there, I think, to prevent lateral movement. Though it's only on one side and on the far side to the photo you provided. What's the gap like on that side?

Are you sure that the seat is engaged properly at the front, is there a gap between the seat and the tank?

  2. Sometimes adjust but also the ring under seat needs to sit over metal circle.

if seat new it will be tight, try fenagling it a little bit.

  3. Thanks for all your help so far. Have tried to get rid of gap on standard and Toratech comfort seat in low position but just can’t. Are you saying the seat locators should fit under these two front fixing brackets on the frame when the seat is in the low position, rather than in the channel each of them makes At their centres (which I presume would be for when the seat is in the high position)? I just can’t get the seat low enough to go under those brackets.

  4. Reupholster and re-cover. Cheaper and better.

  5. Have Ducati stopped including owners manuals with their bikes? Do owners not include the original owners manuals with the bike when selling? Are new owners who don't have or can't find the owners manual not know they are available online on the Ducati.com website? Do new owners not even look at the manuals, even when they have a question about to use the features of their bike?

Sorry for the rant, I'm a bit old school and I Read The F***ing Manual.

PS. Reminder to self, take meds as soon as I get up :)

  6. LOL... they say on any social media platform you’re only two responses away from being called an idiot. What I asked is not actually in the manual which I read carefully and followed but both the stock seat and comfort seat have a big gap despite doing exactly what the manual says. Get stronger meds for the ‘bull in china shop syndrome’ is my rec :)

  7. A few photos showing the locator position on my 1260GT and gaps with standard / Touratec seats. 20200824_134734.jpg 20200824_134915.jpg 20200824_135419.jpg

  8. Thanks that reallly helped. The locator was in a different Position to yours and have changed it. Now the standard seat fits well like yours and the comfort seat fits well on the near side but there’s still a gap on the offside. Need to do more investigation there me thinks!

  9. Well, you got on your high horse so you won’t mind if I take mine for a trot round this here paddock.

I’ve been a member of various bike forums since 1996, from early Yahoo Fireblade clubs, passing through Fazer, Tuono and GS forums (what a laugh they are) to arrive here for the last 4 years.

I’ve no idea if Steve read his manual or indeed if he even possess one, I don’t care either. If someone rocks up here and asks a question that I may know the answer to or even have a wild stab at, I’m more than happy to do so.

It’s these kind of interactions that create a community. I’ve met a load of great characters through forums, many of whom I’m delighted to now refer to as friends. Each one of them handled my early idiotic questions with good grace, preferring not to castigate me and let me be part of the group.

I’d just like to point out the bleeding obvious, you may well feel frustrated that someone asks a question that can be easily answered by reading (tf) manual or simply searching the forum, but they may have chosen instead to ask as a means of becoming part of the forum. It’s at this point we all have a simple choice, either help the fella out or post something along the lines of your reply. Or of course remain silent. Your call.

This isn’t a personal attack, it’s an opinion. We’ve both got one right?

    Ooohhhh here we go!

  11. To be fair you both have a good point.

It’s great to welcome new owners and I’m sure we all welcome their questions (unless they are about screens of course).

But equally a lot of info is easily available in the owners manual...

Handbags back in the cupboard now boys?

  12. Just to be clear, what I asked wasn’t in TF manual :)

  13. All good in sunny North Yorkshire!

  14. Holy thread revival batman, anyone know a seat guy to redo the OEM in Europe? I've got a big trip coming up in 6 weeks to Germany and my nads might not make it after 4 days solid riding.

  15. Depending on where you are... and if you have time, look up "Comfy seat, Sussex motorcycles, Touratech, modified seat etc)

    Sussex Motorcycles (http://www.sussexmotorcycles.com/elite-comfort-motorcycle-seats.html)

    http://www.customclassicretrotrim.co.uk/ (Leicester area)

    Hope that helps.
