That was a great race though. But MM is just a class act really isn't he. Broken leg six weeks ago, but still has just enough. Nice to see Rossi giving it some again though. Just when you think the old dog is down and out, he pulls one out of the bag. But as Fig said, Quatar is seldom much like the rest of the season. Dirty track made for a lot of sad mechanics these last few days! What with the lights, the 3 planes in and out and about 15-20 million+ of bike damage in a weekend looking at the state of some of that hardware bouncing through the gravel - it's a bit of a money pit that little outing!
what a race but bit of offfsetting for the rest of the season.. As the only thing that shouldn't have happened did happen. JL crashed out and lost 20 points at least. MM can go managing his season as of race 1... pitty... Then the race itself was a stonker. I ve Always liked Bautista from the days he was toiling with Sim and pitty he didn't make it. Smith topped expectations , no? And you have to hand it to Rossi : fab race and he sure is not out yet. Sticking it to MM the way he did puts him at the top of his game. But then it just shows the outerwordly talent of that kid. Getting back on every occasion and then especially the way he just took 7 yards on Rossi going into the last lap so VR just could not get to him to stick it to him again was just masterfull. and shows an incredible amount of racemanship and maturity for a .. 21 year old.. As to Ducati... as could be predicted, nothing much has really changed. as long as there is no new bike , probably nothing will.. I hope Cal gets his act together and starts riding as he rode the first half of last season, when he was out to get that Duc Factory contract... let's hope the season isn't dead already with JL having to play follow ...
I saw the Moto 3 and Moto 2 races and was due to watch Moto GP when my wife insisted on watching the news. Twice - both Swiss and French TV (why? Don't ask me. She has a news fetish). But that was OK, as she recorded the Moto GP so that I could look at it afterwards. When I came to look at it, she hadn't recorded it, but had managed to record the Moto 2 race instead. I was not best pleased - having looked forward to the race all weekend (seen qualifying too). Bugger.But what can you do?
D. spend the 90 or so Euros on the live feed from motogp.. wifi connection and off you go... anywhere ... i even watched it on the iphone once and it was still tops... the impression of width of screens is related to the distance you put them... the only thing they should do is make a 'non- spoiler channel' .. if you now watch it later, the results are all over the home page.. E. rewrite the rules..
Great race, bodes well for rest of season. I actually thought it was a good result for Ducati. Obviously they benefitted from a fair few crashes ahead of them, but they were still there at the end (just) and the others weren't. Cal did well considering the electronic issues. And if Rossi can have a few good races like that to keep him motivated to stay on for the full season, then all the better.
Things are looking up for Yamaha. If the slower of the two factory riders can challenge for 1st place at the end of the race then things bode well for Jorge.
The low-res option on motogp.com allowed me to stream it live with no issues during peak time here (as the west coast of the US is waking up) and I had no problems. Im really happy with it. Also, I had 7 or 8 hours of bike time yesterday which was brilliant. The only thing missing was copious amounts of tea.
It was great to see Rossi back up the sharp end, having said that he was fast there last year. For me though there was something 'back there' in his riding, he was taking absolute liberties and was as loose as I have seen him since the early 4-stroke days. Great to see. Marquez was awesome, the really fast right in the middle of the track, just had it completely backing in with his knee on the floor, unbelievable to watch. Shame for Bradders, but let's see if he can carry on it Austin at least running with the 'Aliens' like cal was able to do. Speaking of Ducati, yes they halved the race gap to the front, but that's there limit now as long as they have that bike, so at least the next 5-6 races will be exactly the same as last year where they run round together in 7-8, or 9-10 or something like that just limited by the bike turning issues.
Personally I think we'll have to wait until Jerez to really get a better idea. Texas next and Honda owned that last year
I enjoyed watching the highlights last night.Nice to see a bit of a scrap for 1st place near the end of the race.Wish my tele had a button for switching the commentary off but leaving the sound of the bikes.Where on earth did those commentators come from?
