Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar.......spoilers

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Il Presidente, Mar 20, 2014.

  1. Yeah, I do think that Honda will be awesome at Texas (tbh I think they will most places, the bike looks on great form). I did however think that Rossi was getting off the corners quite well, deffo the last corner, the first 10 metres he was pulling a little gap that Marquez was closing at the end of the straight with power/Slip stream advantage. I think it may be as little as a set up thing but hopefully Yamaha can be closer.

I think that Ducati will struggle in Texas, It's that combination of fast left/right flicks where you need to carry speed, at the mo I think the bike is only going to be good at point and skirt circuits.

  2. I find it very frustrating that all bikes are limited by tyres. It doesn't matter how good the bikes are or what method the manufacturers use to try to win. The tyres ruin it in my opinion. Yamaha approach racing in a different manner to the Honda and so require a different tyre type to suit. They are ham-strung before they even start the race.

  4. Hondas clearly got a quicker motor again in my eyes

  5. Its the tyres that stop the Yamaha from maintaining corner speed. So the point and shoot Honda will always be better.

  6. I have to say, Ben Spies for president. He believes the simple answer to improving the sport is to reduce tyre grip by 20%, they did it in WSBK and it sure did create some interesting results....

  7. Can't see Derek there. Maybe he is the one taking the picture.

  8. A fantastic start to the season IMO. Lorenzo overcooked it early and paid the price.
Rossi sat and watched, then picked them off. Reminded me of his title fight season with Jorge a few years back. Hope he can continue. Also got to wonder what would happen if he started/qualified better. It doesn't seem to be his forte.
MM....what can be said.....well, how about ''how the fuck does he stay on that bike''? Back wheel off the ground while tipping in to a corner?? Talk about no quarter given, I think Rossi realised the kid would do anything, including taking him out to stay in front.
The Honda seems to have the legs again. Next race will be interesting.

    :)

  9. MM is the only one on the field riding a unicycle ;)

  10. Dorna has got to YT already.

  11. I have just watched the race, thanks to a kind member lending me his log-in details.
    Excellent race.
Bradley was superb. Would Cal have done any better on that bike (apart from the crash of course)? Quite possibly not.
Amazing that Iannone only finished 30 secs back from Dovi, when you consider that he crashed out. He must have been motoring, which bodes well for the rest of the season.
It's set to be a good and interesting championship. Makes a big change from some of the "parade" races we have seen in the past.

  12. Is 12 secs back from the winner good for Ducati? I can't remember the gaps they had last season.

  13. well it's an improvement....... in 2013 Dovi was first Ducati in 7th place..... 24.355 seconds back

  14. I remember being at Misano last year and we stopped timing them after the gap got to 30 seconds.

  15. Were Last years leadingh bikes faster ?
    Less fuel again this year.
Rossi remarked how this is the slowest bike hes raced in the premier class.

That may account for the reduced gap

  16. Man the grid girls are so hot it makes me kinda sad.
