Do you feel that his youth or provenance affected his action? If you don't know him personally, this doesn't sound like a very good start. He may be a scammer, but I wouldn't confuse race with this - it doesn't do anything for your own credibility. As it's going to be his word against yours, you'll need all the credibility you can get.
