Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by cookster, Oct 4, 2024.

  1. I heard that Ducati / Blade Oxford might be struggling and going soon.

  2. They are owned by the Heritage Automotive Group, I remember the hoohar when the acquisition was made. Sadly, the ‘phoenix’ Blade had to carry the appalling reputation acquired by the ‘earlier’ Blade company. Allegedly, they have been teetering on the verge for a while. Andy

  3. having dealt with that appalling show, I wouldn’t be surprised, blade group have been in trouble for a long time, Heritage group were going to ‘turn it around’ their solution in Swindon was to stick in a manager from tne car business who didn’t even have a bike licence and had never worked in a bike shop. Swindon seems to only do business with people who have never bought there or don’t look up dealer reviews

  4. A general rule is that once the bank and the administrators have their money, there is 5-15% in the pound left for the ordinary people.

  5. I went over to Staverton on the way to the office and spoke with one of the appointed administrators and also I managed to bump into an (ex) member of staff for a quick chat.
It is as we all know now, admins are doing an audit to find out where everything stands, the guy I spoke to seemed quite human and was very sad that he was having to be here doing this part of his job.
The staff member was basically sent home the moment he arrived for work on Friday and told he’s still employed and has to remain available to help out when required.
There were a couple of customers talking to a couple of staff and the motoring side had the service garage open with a couple of cars on lifts with people working on them.
I got those conversations on video but I don’t think it’s appropriate to upload them.

  6. Just heard it’s pretty much the same story over at Worcester too.

  7. Support the independently run bike shops please. They are the passionate ones who know the bikes and us bikers.
Big groups only to buy if cheap enough and then only ever on credit card. Same credit card rule for any significant purchase obviously regardless of what/where.

  9. I managed to get my bike in for a warranty job this morning at Chester, had a good chat with the staff who are hopeful of a buyer being found for some of the dealers, what I did hear is that some of the group dealers are doing really bad and one dealer that only sold one bike in September and it was used at a loss, others where still doing well but hampered as they stopped taking expensive trades due to the large stock and many being over priced.

I do hope the find a buyer as to many good dealers have gone and it’s a shame as you spend years building a relationship with the sales and service teams, with most being really great to deal with.

  10. Interesting the staff seem to be working at risk. Ie probably haven’t been paid and maybe won’t be paid.

  11. I think I would though… I dunno, if I didn’t know what was going on, rather than sit around I’d probably go and work on the hope I’d get that pay, while I looked for something else. Xbox time would not be my friend mentally in that scenario

  12. I’ve been thru this stuff, albeit years ago, and there are often promises made on payments for while you’re working but doesn’t help back pay stuff. Agree tho, you’re likely to carry on and hope it’s ok rather than risk ‘losing your job’ if you walk away and say f-you

  13. I wonder if it’s the same psychological mechanism that allows people to dig their own graves while at gunpoint?
Edit: sorry, a bit dark there.

  14. I’d tell your victim you need the patio footing deeper than is the norm before the killing tbh.

Or you could just say I can kill you quickly in one go ie shot to the head or slowly you know a bit of wounding arms legs before the killer shot.

There are a few others I’ve thought of but I’ll keep those to meself just in case like…..
