Funny how no other bike I have owned has done this Bungle, and yet I have cleaned this far more than any other, treated it (albeit with FS rather than ACF) from new and washed it down regularly, lubing chain every few hundred miles which for me tends to be one or two rides. So whats poor maintenance about that?! I buy a bike to ride it, not to sell it, and enjoy all of it. Only ever had one issue with a Ducati reliability wise and that was an old ST. And while my bikes are never mint during ownership, they are in VG condition given age and mileage.
the thing is that sprocket, carrier, and rear hub on the multi are the same as the 1198 incarnation I'm sure… just like the 848 was the same as a 1994 916…..
£12,500 is hardly 'a budget bike' as you put it, I really don't understand why there is all this hate towards this one bike. Were you all like this when the 'budget 848' came out? We have one person on here that has some corrosion issues with his bike so that makes them all potential rust buckets. Just because its cheaper than the 1199 by approx £3000 then it must be made by inferior materials and its a ticking oxidation time bomb. What a load of tripe!
I would like a 899 as well myself and maybe next year I will get one but I will just put up with the rust as it's probably a good bike apart from that , most people pay to have a red chain so least wouldn't have to do that
Hey I only posted what had happened to mine just so that fellow owners would keep an eye on theirs to make sure they dont come across the same problems as me, other than that I love my 899 she is a dream to ride and I am looking forward to getting out in the spring when the weather picks up. She will be fine in the dry
washed mine today after a week of hard commuting (yesterday was too hangover to do so) had to wash it twice as too much muck was left on it after first wash. i have had few problems with mine , bit it is deffo not rusting! and i use it daily...
Checked mine over today, only corrosion I found was on the chain. Where are your problems? A picture or too would be nice Dave
