V4 Cruise Control Icon In Red?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Leo167, Sep 28, 2023.

  1. "My bike is rock steady at speed. Heck, on long highway rides, with the cruise on, I'll hold just the left grip while I give my throttle hand a break."
Hopefully I can obtain this soon- lol I actually like to ride with no hands at all on cruise (of course when conditions are right) and shit with this radar cruise (if they get it to work) I can take a nap-
I just picked up the bike this past Tues. had 11 miles on it 7 of which was from my test ride, currently have 208 miles
Not sure with the tire pressures, but the service advisor did say it was at spec.
The suspension set up will definitely be adjusted to suite- I did notice it being harsh even on medium- But honestly I had beaters with partially seized forks that never gave me issue- or maybe they had far more tolerance to road surfaces???

"Unfortunately, this might warrant new tires to cure your problem, an excuse to purchase some Michelin Road 6's, for example."
So this is where I'm at currently with the dealer, I wrote them a friendly letter on how unacceptable their solution was to my problem and it may lead to my death or some innocent woodland creatures death. I received a call from them just about an hour ago offering to pick up my bike tomorrow to put on a new front tire and sort out the malfunctioning CC
I harped that I have a ride this Sunday so I can stack up break in miles and I want the bike back the same day regardless if the cruise is fixed or not. As for the Michelins I will never buy another set- I had road 4's on my concourse I ended going back to the stock Bridgestones because of a wobble that the 4's induced at 90+ mph. Nearly 10 years later installed a set of Road 6's on my 2020 GSA- had to give em back because it made the bike drift pretty bad to the left (Didn't allow no hands riding so they had to go) replaced with Road smarts can't remember if it was gen 2 or 3 Thinking the latter- bike rode straight as piss with no hands...Yay!!

"Question - is there another Duc dealer in the area? Sounds like the service department isn't living up to its end of the bargain."
Yeah they are horrible and charge a premium for being horrible- Highest hourly rate around
There are a few by me unfortunately 1 of them is as bad or worse than my local one..I do have another that I trust it's 70 miles from me but worth the trip, the old man and the daughter who runs the shop were top notch- however it's changed hands recently and really have no experience with the new crew- its so unfortunate a-lot of the "real mechanics" with tons of knowledge and don't depend on a laptop.. purely logic a wealth of experience combined with a grasp of basic fundamentals have moved on either by retirement or other

$35K - 3 days of ownership, 1 day in the shop potentially causing the 2nd issue creating another visit to the shop, and dealing with their lack of enthusiasm to actually get to the root of the problem, and lastly the crown jewel non- sensical advice to just keep riding the bike and it may cure itself ?? WTF!! And the service advisor admitted he has no technical training... another WTF!!! then why are you even talking to me
It's just been a frustrating..... Sorry for the long winded replies.

  2. Being disgusted with the unacceptable service received, I E-mailed the dealerships GM re: my experience with his service dept. and how this seasoned rider and mechanic by trade (past life) was not taken seriously and was basically dismissed and advised to continue to ride the bike and that it may resolve itself- Threw in some scenarios with tank slappers and fiery death(s) and how unprofessional the advice given from his service writer- and if I took his advice would probably lead to a lawsuit against the Dealership.
A few hours later I receive a call from the service writer and offered to pick up the bike they are going to go ahead and warranty the tire(s) and correct the ACC issue- Bike was picked it up this morning and returned by afternoon- Kinda like this pick up and delivery service except I had to show the driver how to strap down the front, driver also mentioned that this bike was top priority and everyone around the shop was like frantic about getting the bike sorted out and returned today.... anyway I was correct about the front tire being either out of balance or had excessive runout, It's amazing what a perfectly round tire can do to a bike, Now this thing feels like a fleckin $30K+ Bike
I can happily say this matter is closed, well at least for the front end vibration / wobble- yet to be seen for the ACC, hopefully it's not an intermittent thing like another forum member wrote about- but I'm pretty sure it was due to the techs incompetency or laziness that caused the error. Onwards with suspensions settings and getting the full Akra or Decat don't know yet- Thanks all for your input

  3. Glad this issue is finally resolved. Unreal it takes the threat of a lawsuit to get the level of service you deserve given the Ducati "premium brand".

Just finished a nearly 4-hr ride this afternoon, a mix of highway & 2-lane backroads. While my buddy on his R1 was groaning about his back & leg aches after he got home, aside from being a little tired & hungry, I was feeling great. Used the heated grips & Sargent heated rider's seat for the 1st time this season - air temperature was 58 deg F, but at 80 clicks on I-5, I was happy to have those options on-board.

Hopefully you can now put some miles on your Duc before old man winter hits...

  4. Yup did the same this morning- 200 mile run same mix- finally some damn nice weather
unfortunately I think the symptom is back, not as severe and mainly shows up near the triple mark at this point it could be just the bikes character, but was under the impression that the V4 took care of that??
it's still a lot better than before and ACC working- but will still bring it up to the dealer, now that I'm a known pest.
messed with the preload settings unfortunately I remembered at the end of the ride and kept on forgetting to hit the center button to set the change before toggling back...learning curve, set it up at home with your formula as a baseline, so all ready for the next run and go from there-

  5. My 1200 dvt CC would drop out if the bike hit a bump. I do not know if it is supposed to do that, I just assumed it was programmed thru the inertia sensor to switch off when the bump exceeds 'x'. I could not be bothered wafting through page after page of "do not drink the contents of the battery" in the owners manual to find out!
