This isn’t a dig at s lowes but I’d love to know the total cost of bikes and parts he’s written off down the years I bet it’s 7 figures by now and maybe not just with a 1 in front of it. (And that goes for every rider would be kind of funny to see some kind of binned parts league)
Sam is finding WSB "refreshing" 263 points off the leader halfway through the season, sitting below Scott "*he should retire" Redding. Sam Lowes calls WorldSBK "refreshing" as he reviews first half of 2024 | World Superbikes | Crash *the general forum consensus, not that of S Lowes
Just confirms the challenge transferring between race series. He’s riding a hugely different bike in a very different race format. It’s his “rookie” year but he might as well be a new kid on the block. Biggest issue for me from that interview is, he isn’t physically fit enough yet. Redding doesn’t do himself any favours, he constantly bitched about Alvaro’s weight advantage and he bitched about the BMW. Alvaro, whilst not as competitive with the weight penalty, is still beating him and Toprak has made a mockery of Redding’s complaints about the BMW. He has 1 year left on his contract with BMW but I don’t see a satellite or independent BMW team in the competition next season so where does he go ? Not sure I’d want any of the current independent seats at Honda, Yamaha or Kawasaki. Andy
Its Bulegas rookie year too tbf. I dont disagree with any of that though although S45 wasnt the only one calling for weight rules if i recall (maybe the most vocal).
Bulega has had 2 years on a Panigale V2, different to the V4 I grant you but you ride both Ducatis the same way, brake, turn, squirt. Corner speed is not in the Ducati DNA. Sam has had 9 years on a Moto2 bike which is all about corner speed. Andy
There was an interesting interview with Jamie Robinson recently where he talked about his difficulty in adapting to the different riding style required for a superbike, losing the entry and corner speed advantage that he had in 250s.
Fair points although I’d add his recent seasons in m2 hardly screamed give me a bigger bike to crash/roll about mid pack every week but I guess that wasn’t his decision. Kind of predictable though.
