1200 Damo's Multi now gone...................

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by damodici, Apr 12, 2014.

  1. Look forward to it. Saturday could be the day for pics ;)

  2. Well here is her first public appearance although slightly premature as shes not quite finished.:upyeah:

I spent a bit of time this Saturday afternoon fitting the new spider grips over the heated elements, then I moved on to replacing as many bolts as i could be bothered to whilst trying to juggle keeping an eye on a wandering baby obsessed with bloody clothes pegs (shes starting to get rather mobile)

I reckon there's another morning in it at least by the time Ive fitted and greased them all (the bolts, not the clothes pegs)

Ive basically replaced all engine bolts for stainless and all fairing type bolts for black aluminum, I still need a few more so have them on order and still have some to fit. I'll also try and make a note of them all at some stage so people can order the bits they need without having to look for fairing kits etc

    List still to do:

Front brake discs want replacing for something better and ill uprate the pads at the same time. Still need front caliper bolts and all other random fixings around the controls.

I also need a new chain and sprocket set as the stock Ducati ones are frankly shocking for staying rust free (hence no picture of that side) and I'll also want the rear wheel bolts in anodised red as per my original design.

I think I'm also going to re apply the rim tape, its ok in most areas but not perfect and because i know its there it gets on my nerves:Banghead:

Oh i also need new tyres......

I'm going to get my holiday out of the way this coming week and probably order the bits whilst by the pool as I'll get cabin fever after 2 days anyway :D

Ive taken a few quick shots before i set out on a ride but also grabbed a few while out. I was dying to get out on it especially running the new pipe.

All i can say is BLOODY HELL....... I've missed having a loud pipe on a twin. its obnoxious, it pops, farts and bangs on the overrun but good lord it sounds epic

The new seat being higher and flatter is much better, not only is it way more comfortable but also i like the extra height as it reminds me of riding a supermoto. Oh and special thanks to the local villages for having me today, you may not know me but I was that hooligan making a lot of noise whilst spanking the multi up and down your lovely winding roads..... it was my pleasure :Finger:

I'll repost when Ive got those bits done but for now I'm really happy with how its turned out. Its weird having something made up from photoshop images and now I own it.........but yep, overall really chuffed , not bad for a white S touring eh :p

  5. Looks great mate. :upyeah::cool:

  6. Looking good mate!
Does it sound as good as the v4?

  7. Thanks all

  8. Kind of yes, it reminds me more of the Akra I ran on the RC8, every time you shut off there's a nice deep howl and it just has some meat to it while sitting there on tick over.

The v4 sound is hard to beat but this really is close to it :)

  9. That looks great.

  10. Looks great, some nice BSTs would go well :) They are easy to clean for a touring bike and you'd get better MPG too, just saying like :)

  11. So Damo, your mission should you wish to accept it, is to now get a 'performance bikes' style photo with an equally tasty lady draped all over it. Then it trully will be worthy of a garage wall :p

  12. You're an evil man Arthur, that old carrot of BST's being dangled is a hard one to resist but I must :)

  13. Looks like I'll have to pen a letter to performance bikes / fast bikes then...... Failing that pop up town one evening and get a pissed up slapper to pose :)

  14. ;) Great job mate, as always great attention to detail, nice bike that!

  15. Looks superb, damodici.

Very individual but still very Ducati too.

  16. Cheers Arthur, still a few minor details to sort but I'd rather know its all done right :)

  17. Glad you like it.

Part of what I wanted was to still try and keep it 'on brand' so it kept that Ducati feel , although like you said, still different.

I've always liked the pikes peaks, just realised I'd never seen a black one and thought why not?

Adding the extra red pinstripe to break up the white in to black works well and it just adds something extra.

It still looks very ducati, and that in itself is a good thing. Hopefully the boys in bologna like it :)

  18. Was chatting to Phil @racebolt this morning he's a great guy, very much into his bikes too, think they would like feedback etc on any bolts etc that may be missing from the range as they make them all in house, defo worth giving them a call.

I hope to get a project in soon that I can use a selection of RaceBolts on :)
