its not actually called a day time MOT, or any thing else come to think of it. The mot certificate is actually a normal one. Its just a case of if the lights are there, they must work. If they are missing, its not a fail.
I ran a 916 and 999 for year on a "Day time MOT" Its just an advisory "No lights fitted at time of test" No Horn is a fail Thinking about it I have no reflector on my Pani and thats never been a problem. So I think it must have a horn regardless
I thought that when typing the header - but anyone searching would not find the day time relevance if I hadn't phrased it so
So you were wrong about the reflector? If you read the 'rules' is also says nothing in the wording which would allow no lights there is more to this than meets the eye I will check again about the horn, but at the moment I don't need one
I've just read my Manuel and must admit if bike has no lights and is only used in day light hours NO reflector is needed.
I just think I would want lights, brake light, and indicators....jobs dangerous enough as it is in my humble opinion, why wouldn't you want the tool behind you to know you are slowing or turning? Some really nice lightweight led stuff that won't ruin the looks might even enhance them.
One thing that can be gleaned from this thread is the confusion on what is and isn't acceptable. I'd make sure on the horn and reflector before sending it for an MOT... hang on my 749 doesn't have a reflector.
i dont test now but did for 20years, i wont do pre MOT's, about 90% of a test is opinion depending on the tester. if i say pass then it fails, it makes me look incompetent, if i say fail then it passes it makes me look like a crook. ye canny win.
