1200 De-cat: Potential Fuelling Issue's?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Moley, Jun 6, 2014.

  1. Junking the exhaust valve is just one benefit of any decat kit.....but you will need to have the bike's ECU updated by someone like Chris at CJS Racing to get rid of the EXVL errors on the Dash or buy a device such as the Servo Buddy (Speedycom Performance Ltd that fools the ECU into seeing the valve as present and operational.

    Yes.......buy British :D

  2. Ducati should give dealers the option, to switch OFF the exhaust valve check. We shouldn't be paying for that.

British is good - think of British Hi-Fi :upyeah:

  3. Cambridge Audio for me :D

  4. Thx for the link i'll have a look but did have a wander around it before and could t find the answer, ie does it have go have something and if so what is that something 2013 skyhook model may be different to the one listed?

  5. Sorry, you've got me confused there Bradders!....you talking about the Servo Buddy?

  6. About
    1) will an engine light come on/error code
    2) what do ai need to plug in to stop it

I will not be going for a map, i want to just improve sound a little etc but not spend a load more dosh

  7. Sound/performance = decat :D ........both dependent on what silencer/end can you go with. Both the OE and Termi Carbon stubby make for LOUD although there's various optional baffle choices with different decat kits.
As soon as the exhaust valve is removed (e.g. cat box removed) you'll get EXVL errors on the Dash....
Quick and free/cheap fix.......DIY fix with a spring and cable clamp to fool the servo motor sensor that the valve is still in place and connected to the cable:

....or disconnect the connector from the bike's wiring loom to the exhaust valve servo motor and connect a DUC-EE (no UK reseller, so buy from the USA) or Servo Buddy - cost around £50. Speedycom sells the Servo Buddy but although I know there is a variant for the MTS1200, it's not listed on their site (contact them....scroll down the pagefor product enquiries;-))

  8. Brill thx :) think I'll have a crack on the DIY option first

  9. Bit of trial and error to get the clamp position right for the correct spring tension and you'll be sorted.

  10. @AndyW will I know if this works at stationary when I turn ignition on or do I need to take it for a run to see if the light comes on?

  11. As soon as you turn the ignition on the system goes through a 'diagnostic' process at which time if there's any problem the EXVL error would pop up.......

  12. Great, used just a heavy spring from a ram mount, plus cable ties and we're in ;)

Alas I dont think it will make your website pmsl

  13. Too embarrassed to post a photo?! lol

  15. You don't know how lucky you are with your obvious laid back approach to these things...........that'd irritate the hell outta me! lol

......and you've a screw missing from the exhaust cover ;-)

  16. There are two missing...because there is nothing to screw it in to !! ;)

  17. :Arghh: OK guys, who can give me contact details for Ben?
I do believe I saw his product for sale on Flea-Bay, but no more at least not today.
This does look like a really good way of dumping the cursed EV, so I am seriously interested here.
    ;)

  18. Mate I've hust added a spring to the end and its sorted! Why spend 50 notes when it really is that easy

  19. Bradders........of course!.......'glue' the screws in place with something like Silicone RTV (undoable;-))

Tony...email me and I'll pass your email on...
