899 Dealers No Longer Taking Orders For New 899s

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by duke63, Jul 21, 2015.

  1. Going from the Desmo Due race series (where the 848 challenge came from) and also the Monster S4 challenge before it, you're only popular when you're racing a bike that is currently being sold!

No doubt the 899 series will move up to the 955 once it becomes available and will run them in parallel for a while, but as with the 848->848EVO and 848EVO->899 transitions you'll be shit out of luck if you're on an old bike!

  2. Yep, remember watching the 848 against the 899 and it was getting spanked round Knockhill

  3. They ran 2 championships in 1 for a while though I think, 848 and 899....

  4. Suspect 899 next year, combined year after then just new. That's how the 848/899 was managed. Although, they had the 848/evo too eh oh allowed more upgrades to 848 than an evo to match the power. Maybe they will do that

Should be a glut of cheap 899 rave bikes coming up then....maybe I can get one for 5k ;)

  5. Never been ... er ... raced? ;)

  6. Actually they allowed the EVO and the 899 in as soon as it was available.

The 899 was announced in Sept 2013 and available in 2014 - it was raced in the 2014 (last years) championship.

Unless Ducati decide to keep the 899 in the line-up (which they may do!) then I expect that there will be an announcement about the 955 post EICMA.

  7. Instinct says both models next year, possibly drop 899 2017 if it is still running

  8. Rather have a rave bike than a race bike any day....but I'll consider a race one ;)

  9. Rave bike?;)

  11. Sorry If I'm being thick, but is the 959 an all 'new' bike or just a capacity hike and tweaks like the 1199/1299?

  12. I think it's a tweak.

The Monster 1200 R price has just been released too - £15,250 OTR apparently.

  13. If they have stopped orders of the 899 now, then these will be in the shops for the spring? or is that wishful thinking... Would be nice if they sold a race only version; like the RC8...

  14. Really looking forward to Milan show now dahling....

  15. Good lord....That's just stifled the sales of that then

  16. Elasticity just broke

  17. Yep, most seem to already think the KTM 1290R is over priced, but hey ho, for those that want different footrests this will be worth the extra over the 1200S I guess.. (Disclaimer, I have ridden the 1200S, it does't need more power!)

Ref the 899/959, Yeah I imagine they will be in dealers for December in time for a Promo to start shifting units, especially as the dealers should have created interest having not had new stock for a while. I know Snells have a list of people wanting them.

  18. Definitely not "all new" but not just a capacity hike either - it will have the updated fairing from the 1299 and may well get the same electronics package as well, especially if there's a base and S version with the electronic suspension.

  19. i hear there's a big meeting in the UK for the last two days....."training" apparently, but obviously dealers getting the inside track before the launches.

maybe we will get details soon ?

  20. No turbo or MGU's on it then? Boooooorrrriiinnnnggggg :Muted:
400cc Pani, with the above. A modern RGV/KR1S. I'd buy one of those.
