959 Decisions, Decisions!

  1. Thanks guys - it’s good to get everyone’s point of view.

It’s all down to what comes up now - one way or another I would like to stick with a 959 - aside from all of the bits I have now I’m not ready move on from that yet.

I can see my journey heading down the same route as @carson and spending time building my skills until I feel I’m ready to use a more powerful bike properly.

My goal is to create something akin to @Jolley ’s “Panigale Track Diet” thread but then take it a step further with the lithium battery and lighter wheels. (thanks @Jolley for a great thread)

I have a Rapidbike evo, And aftermarket rear shock and fork cartridges already so hopefully a kind of hybrid between @Jolley and @Dave dunlop ‘s bike’s - but not as pretty as Dave’s!

If I can get to around 175kg wet with half a tank of fuel I’ll be happy. :upyeah:

  3. I know @Spence - I have been considering it but the maths isn’t adding up for me over a Trioptions bike - the cost of all of the parts needed to bring it up to the same spec would mean it would have to be much cheaper to make it competitive with the one I have my eye on - to the point it wouldn’t be worth your while.

What yours does have in it’s favour is that the engine hasn’t been raced and the bike I’m looking at has done a season in Trioptions since it’s last engine refresh. But it does have all of the trick parts and a V5 and that’s pushing me in that direction.

  4. Building a race bike is all part of the fun.
