  1. Aren't we all forgetting about the ultimate electrifying contest of mettle and nerve? A fierce competition conducted in the crucible of unbridled, merciless aggression? The white heat of North Yorkshire Shove Ha'penny?

  2. Not really El T, just hoping to provoke someone into coming up with an example that does prove my postulation is wrong.

  6. You do realise that a guy in a sequined jumpsuit pokes it with pins before they bump it off and put it in a jar? How could you???

  7. I Know how to end bull Fighting once and for all. Place the bull in a full burqua. They wouldn't dare touch it then!

  8. I feel rather sympathetic to the guys who work in abattoirs slaughtering cattle, since its a dreadful job but somebody has to do it.

If there were people who went down to an abattoir to kill animals or watch them being killed, not as a job but purely for pleasure on their days off, what would you think of them? I would think such people to be in sore need of psychiatric treatment, preferably in Broadmoor.

  12. @ Hippo - If you think there is no risk of death or serious injury involved in Rugby Union you obviously haven't watched the same games as I have !

  13. As an aside - I would definitely consider inter-service mixed hockey to be a sport. I have two loose front teeth that can bear witness to it falling within my definition...

  14. The above means that I don't agree that RU is not a sport. What could be clearer than that!!!!

  18. Isn't it when the points aren't subjective - has to be won placed in fact - like a goal or crossing line first

But not on someone's opinion - like diving or ice skating

So it's not the style of gargling it's who can gargle the longest - I guess ;)

  19. Is that right?
    Well, if you say so.

  20. No, by your quote they are. Its a game by definition if you have "a game" of it. Football tennis, rugby, cricket, conkers, rounders, big game hunting...............GAMES.
