Denzil Down

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Denzil the Ducati, Oct 3, 2019.

  1. I hope not too! He was examined by a spinal specialist nurse practitioner re. the pain in his shoulder, arms etc and she seemed pretty confident that there wasn't evidence of nerve damage in that area at least. Even if it's "just" soft tissue damage he has been really bashed about and that is going to take time to fix. I had a fall from a horse ("throttle jam" situation... into a big door ) earlier this year which left me with a hard lump on my ankle for 4-5 months, and I was able to bounce up and walk away from that one o_O

  2. I had an interim payout 6 months after my accident ( on my insistence as I was broke) and it was paid on the basis of without prejudice, as in they knew they were liable and had pretty much admitted it but they wanted that payment not to reflect any admission of guilt/liability. This had no bearing on the final pay out which was settled 2 years after the incident, once I was back at work and a future prognosis was evaluated. In my experience the diary of my pain and troubles seemed to have little bearing in the financial outcome as there is specific payment values attached to every ailment you can think of and it's unlikely a judge will award above those guide lines... Unless you are mega rich then you will be awarded millions for a stubbed toe...

  3. Make a copy on a regular basis, please. It’s all too easy for memory sticks to get corrupted. In fact keep a copy on the laptop as well and back it up to the cloud.

  4. Ahead of you there! ;) But having everything in one place to hand over in the first instance is useful.

Received a picture of the 748 today, tucked up with its babysitters' bikes (a Honda and a Triumph). He's taking his duties very seriously.

  5. Stubbed toe, you say?

Those can be really bad, don't you know?

I remember my own experience with a bad "off". Pain, weakness, exhaustion an hour after getting out of bed ... having to plan getting washed, dressed, teeth brushed, taking nothing you normally do for granted ... patience is the key to getting through it as quickly as possible. Trying to get through it as quickly as possible makes it take longer.

Sounds to me like good progress on the recovery and as a bonus, we have a Denzilina now to keep DucBird in check.

  7. In my case, it was momentum that propelled me down the road.
In Denzils case though, he was propelled from zero mph by the impact from the car, so he will have had the double whammy of injuries from the impact from the car, as well as the impact from hitting the ground.
Going through the screen is also a source of more injuries, so pretty complex.

  8. Mupp.

I find it easier talking about my big off in 1995 than I do that big toe episode ... so I was talking about the 1995 crash.

Now all I can do is think about my big toe. Thanks.

  14. @Loz, Mrs Denzil broke a little toe 10+ years ago by stubbing it particularly violently. She has very small feet and the nurse in A&E didn't have any tape narrow enough even to tape it to the next toe. We still use this story to wind her up from time to time.

  20. I'm astonished y'all have enough skin left over to have large feet and hands ... presumably at the cost of a smaller, ah, whatever ...
