I know longer have any interest at all in what speeds other people wish to drive at on a motorway. If they are catching me up, I pull out of their way. After all, I was clearly happy travelling at the speed I was before they showed up, so I can't see why their presence should change anything. On the open road, it's much the same. I'd far sooner be behind someone who is quicker than me (or just wants to go faster) than have them up my exhaust pipe. The only thing that annoys me are those who overtake on the straights and then bugger up all the corners by creeping round them. I always overtake them back first chance I get (as they are ruining my ride, which is all about the cornering).
andyB the loop holes are very easy, just do it yourself for free, the law is the law for everyone. I might add if you need to get off something get off it when you get stopped, there are ways and means, mostly common sense.
Isn't the clue here the word intersection ? Why would anyone want to blast past an intersection at 70mph over the speed limit ? On the general thrust of the argument though I absolutely agree, blanket rules aimed at the lowest common denominator are extremely depressing.
That'll be my rather rapid translation (hey! I'm not being paid for it!). I think the French was "à la hauteur du Chemin des Manchettes". Maybe a better translation would be "where the Chemin des Manchettes joins the road". A "chemin" that isn't marked on Google Maps will normally be a small lane between a couple of fields, possibly leading to a farm. It's not exactly an "intersection". It might have been where the Bill hid their radar. You can reckon that it wasn't in a built up area (of the speed limit would have been lower) and that any lane not marked on Google Maps is barely a road.
For all I know, you can see all the way up the lane. There aren't many hedges in Switzerland, and at this time of year before verges have grown, visibility is generally very good. But you're missing the point. Sure, hand out a big fine, (it is quite a long way over the speed limit). If you really think it necessary, confiscate the bike (seems a bit extreme, for someone who hasn't hurt anyone). But jail? Get real. That is just ridiculous for a victimless crime.
Of course you can mow down and kill a motorcyclist and still not go to jail. But go fast on a bike...
if its money you are after then i can tell you now i don't have any............but what i do have is a particular set of skills......skill that make people like me a night mare for people like you..
