Butt ugly, but no worse than a multi IMHO - I guess everyone to their own, be a boring old world if we all liked the same stuff.
Just a thought..... the standard Diavel is suicidal for pillions so I wonder if the back rest thingy is available for the standard Diavel as an accessory? Colourwise the bike should be in one of the new 2013 colours i.e. blue and white etc. and not black which quickly looks drab with a light coating of road dirt.
As much as i love Ducati, they have traded on being 'beautiful' for so long that people have forgotten that 99% of the bikes theyve ever made have been totally f'ugly, and this is no exception. An utter pig.
Just needs forward foot controls, some ape hangers and a stars and stripes metal flake tank. c'mon photoshop guys
Probably the first of many 'parts bin' specials that will be pushed out by the new owners to maximize profit from the current line up, expect to see many more in the future.
I was of a similar mind when I first saw the strada, but...... it is better in the flesh. Not a fan of the colour, but it's quite a clever addition to the Diavel line up. The Daivel is an awesome bike. Better than I expected tbh and there's a lot of people tested one who agree and have bought one. Because it's turned out to be so good, and owners are actually using them outside the original design idea, there's three main things that riders have "complained" about. The lack of luggage capacity, protection from the wind blast and seat comfort for rider and pillion. All three have been addressed and the "strada" option is there now. It's more than a collection of bolt ons. The rear end is all different...subframe, grab rails, pannier frames, conventional light and indicators.... The stock Diavel is still there, and would still be my choice, but if I was doing any distances, i'd take the Diavel Strada over a MTS tbh if only because the seat height is better for me and when not "touring" the Diavel is a proper fun bike. I'm not sure how it'll sell in the UK, but certainly the US should be a big market for it, and if it sells well, then that's what Ducati are in business for.
Im with Nelly on this if it was my money and I was looking for a touring tool id have the Diavel strada as I do not fit on an MTS very well at all. I prefer the rear light set up on this model that the normal diavel.
I'd have to agree that the Diavel would be preferable to the Multi but in saying that it is a bit like deciding which nut you'd prefer to lose to Gonorrhea. While there may be good reason for one choice over the other, neither one is really desirable. A
Im keen on the backrest - going pillion terrifies me so I can only sympathise with those not wishing to fall off the back onto THAT back tyre... The screen? Hmmm... would make sense for touring but not as a day-to-dayer? The panniers are fkn horrible things that should be crushed, burnt and buried at sea. I like the Diavel - but not the stupid forward footrests??
