Diavel Diavel V4 - Doesn't Look Too Bad.

  1. But do you need to be into cruisers, that's my wondering.. I HATE cruisers, but this seems like it does more than just that.

  2. Good point. A sports bike that you can cruise on?

It seems like an awesome all–round bike to me.

  3. I had a Diavel 1260S, their a damn fast cruiser, lovely bike, not sure if I'd have another right now, but I do love the look of the Diavel V4 and would love to test ride one. Also had an 899, Monster 821, Supersport S and Streetfighter V4S. My favourite Ducati I've owned so far is my current Multi V4S, this really is an awesome all-round bike. Does everything!

  4. Looks good in black. But I don’t think I could ever be seen riding one let alone owning it. Regardless of how good it may be.
It’s a cruiser. End of.

  5. I do feel a bit like this, and I do wonder when you turn up somewhere if one looks like somewhat of a be**end but I would at least test ride one to get a view of how good it is. I think it sounds like it's got the Triumph Rocket beaten mainly because the rocket is just so heavy, 275KG's ish from memory.

  6. Yup. That’s it Phill. FOAAB
    Fear of appearing a bellend.
    :D

  7. If the V4 is in any way similar to the original Diavel, cruiser it is not. IME, the bike doesn’t know what it wants to be and with 160hp (at the crank), no cruiser will keep up with it. My girlfriend tracked her Diavel on several occasions. Sports bike it is not either but there are many sports bike riders who will be shocked as they are left in the Diavel’s wake (no pun intended on its barge like appearance :joy:) Andy

  8. The Diavel has always been a bike that I only looked at in showrooms as a curiosity - an incredible looking machine - but never as a serious proposition for purchase.

They are what they are and fill a niche in the market for that coffee shop / biker cafe ‘hangout and look cool’ biker culture.

I know the reviews say they are surprisingly capable but ultimately (in my opinion) they excel at drawing the eye and destroying all comers at the traffic light GP.

I’m not sure I would get enough use out of one to justify a purchase - I would err towards the Monster 1200 for that ‘hangout’ urban bike because I don’t feel I have pulled enough wheelies in my life! :grinning:

That being the said - if I was in the market - even though the inevitable shift to the V4 engine is a natural progression it’s hard to see what potential buyers get to justify the price difference between buying the new model and a much lower cost used bike.

8k on a low mileage Diavel 1200 is a much cheaper way of looking like a posey bellend! :joy:

Edit I googled poser on a Diavel and this came up! :joy:

  9. Oh shit, we forgot to add the front indicators, where should we put those, I know, stick them on the handlebars in front of the reservoirs ! What an afterthought ...

I loved my 1260 Diavel, always amazed by the handling and power but agree, what the hell is it !

  10. I’ve always fancied a Diavel, this one could tempt me. Might have to throw a leg over one, once I remember how to actually ride.

  11. Every bike is cheaper if you buy a older used one…

The 44Teeth review is up. It seems that it might be far more capable than it looks.

  12. Just needs some Ducati branded kevlar assless chaps to finish off the look! :p

  13. You should patent that as quick as you can. This time next year… You’ll be a millionaire!

  14. He quite liked it, would be the understatement of the year!

  15. Is it a desmo, or the same engine as a multi with normal style valve train?

  16. I believe it’s the latter.

  17. I watched a few of the other reviews from other Youtubers at the same launch - they all loved!

Although I rarely see any of them say anything negative about any bike these days - if I was in the fortunate position of being invited to Dubai for a free Jolly on a brand new bike I reckon I would find something to love about it too! :innocent:

Peg scraping seems to be the order of the day - and the super smooth roads were at least mentioned as a caveat that UK roads - aren’t quite the same….

The engine and fuelling seem pretty peachy - best of both worlds for an all rounder.

  18. Yep, would need a few rest rides on our amazing roads to see how it copes, before hitting the button on one.

  19. The front pre load and compression will be too high and the rear rebound will lift you out of the saddle on every bump. Took me several months making small changes to get the 1200’s suspension acceptably compliant. Eventually put different springs in the forks and fitted an Öhlins on the rear. I don‘t see the V4 being any different/better. The Kabya suspension on the current base and + 937cc Monster is awful. Andy

  20. The wife has recently passed her bike test and bought herself an Aprilia Tuono 660 so with that in mind I've been looking at bikes to throw and jacket and some jeans on with and poodle along with her. I don't fancy being sat on the Panigale at sedate speeds all day.

The Panigale will be staying for when I fancy a run out with the lads or on my own but the new Diavel V4 is looking really tempting. I think I'll try and get a test ride on one of these when the weather dries up a bit. I was looking at the 1260S before until I seen the reviews on the V4 version.
