Big update. Since the bike seemed fine these last couple of days I decided to attach panels went to start it and the problem is back! It has to be a short if the panels made the problem return. So I wiggled various wires through the panel gaps and I seem to have isolated the group of wires. I will post a pic and if any one could identify what they do etc. it would be great.
Sorry forgot to say it's located at the bottom of bike near the battery and ECU where the black panel meets the white panel. I didn't want to take it off just yet as that adjustment seems to be working for time being
Thanks just googled one and I think your right. So either my regulator is faulty or has a short. I'm guessing a short since when I move a reposition wires it seems fine.
Check the part numbers, to see if its the same reg/rec as 1198, I suspect it will be IF you are replacing the reg/rec (they are a known weak part) rather than the Ducati item I'd go this route
I went that route a couple of months ago when I also discovered the stator wires burnt out. Might be worth looking into.
@oldjock and @bettes you to must be mind readers! I was actually looking at threads and noticed how common it was and was thinking if I could buy an after market unit design abit more better and I was actually going to ask!! Then I noticed a thread and the connector was filled with black stuff on the connectors (must be your thread bettes) so I was going to check them first then maybe replace the unit with a better one if need be. So thank you very much!!
