Diopa Single Seat Arrived For Ss Ie

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by richgilb, Oct 5, 2015.

  1. With such low miles it might just be the sprag bearing.

The 1000DS that required replacement had high mileage and the ring gear and hub etc required replacement too. I took some photos - I'll post em tonight so you can check what yours look like against my old one and then decide what you need.

In addition to the bearing, the parts cost me about £220.

Clearly if you just need the bearing happy days

  2. Hi, can I pick your brains......I've toyed with the single seat idea on my '05 off n' on for years.....there's a lack of English on the Diopa site, & the only pic I see is a rear part-view of a blue/silver one. Did yours come with seat on it (I presume no) & is the grab handle plate completely removed in the conversion? And what did it cost incl' post, please. (If you'd prefer to PM any of this, feel free.)
    cheers
    Gary

  3. Front forks on SSie can be improved to ohlins r+t standard with gixer k5 internals according to Performance Bikes. Ive got a set if anyone wants to try them. £65.

  4. Hi, yes it came with the seat on it. I paid an 30 odd Euros for leather but without the tricolore stripe.

The two panels and the entire grab rail are all that you need to take off but you need to cut a hole in the mudguard to install it. I may take it off completely as it weights around 2kg but that would leave the electrics to the real lights exposed. Not decided yet.

He communicates ok in English but takes a couple of days to respond. It was 379 Euros including UK delivery. Then Went up to 409 because I ordered the leather.

  5. Thanks for the info.....probably the best one I've seen, but pricey.....
I'm not even sure I'm keeping it, so I'll bear it in mind.

  6. Not even sure I am keeping mine either! Much better than ricambi Weiss stuff, thicker, original design and comes with mounting kit.

  7. The seat unit is painted. It is a tricky maneouvre getting the white number board a shape you like. Also I had to get the tank patched up where the original seat had rubbed the paint away. Then relacquered the whole tank

All in all it looks to me like the seat unit they should have offered instead of the cowl that sits on the seat. But this is not a cheap exercise. The vents needed cutting out and the mesh comes in a pale grey so that needed painting a metal colour.

Lots to do but when the high mount termis arrive it is going to be a success I think[IMG][IMG][IMG]

  12. Looks good, I've got the DP one on my bike, it's the cover for the original seat, but I bought another seat and cut it down to a single seat, made a new latch and now I have a great storage area where the rear seat used to be.
