1200 Do I Need Fatducs On My 2014 Decat

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by wheeledwidewebb, Dec 6, 2014.

  1. What throttle cable? It's Ride by Wire.

  2. Which makes a £500 tune into at least £750.

Having seen results on different dynos on the later bike, not sure it's that great value imo

  3. Yes, but the twist grip is connected to the twistgrip position sensor by a pair of cables. The demo model that I tried back in 2010 had a helluva lot of slack in the cable but my own bike only has a 1mm or 2.
It doesn't sound like this is the OP's problem anyway, although it could be a fault with the RBW system.

  4. What Derek said. o_O

  5. That may or may not be true. I am quite happy with my 13S so wouldn't consider remapping as money well spent. But I think you're missing the point regarding the trip itself. It's not all about money: it's the experience too. If you really feel you need a remap at CJS, why not kill two birds with one stone and enjoy the journey by turning the trip into a mini-break?

  6. Tbh because I'd rather spend the same money and head to wales, or yorkshire or europe for a whole week

  7. A week in Europe for £250? Camping in Calais, one assumes!

  8. There is a rather large and cheap camp there I believe.

  9. Exactly what I did!

  10. At last ... someone with a brain who looks for a reason to ride their bike rather than an excuse to leave it in the garage.

  11. Mind you, riding Ducatis comes at a price! When I take mine to dealers to trade it in, I am consistently offered a low price on the basis that it has a high mileage. Seems that most Ducatis is only cover 3-4,000 miles per year. I've done 13,000-plus in 18 months and will probably have hit nearly 20,000 by early spring when I'll change it. I would be interested in others' experiences of selling privately. Particularly where "high-mileage" bikes are concerned.

  12. No for £750 which is what he'd spend :)

  13. Er. I realised that's what he meant. Buy it's a question of comparing like for like. That sum wouldn't include a CJS tune would it? Doh!

  14. No...but some of us would argue on a late my its not needed and not that great value

All that glitters is not performance enhancing

  15. Mr. @bradders does have a serious point here (albeit his phone or tablets spell check is trying to defeat him).
The twin spark engine is much better than the first generation MTS1200. Almost to the point where the gains to be had by custom mapping are small.
The dyno map offered up earlier is a good example of a poor to moderate improvement.
Others have had slightly better results.
Note my cjs tuned single spark is noticeably more powerful (and smoother) that my latest twin spark Pikes Peak.
If I wasn't already a convert of cjs and aware of the potential power gains I wouldn't be looking for a dyno run and custom remap.
I also have an Ohlins steering damper and a range of seats and screens...all in search of the perfect machine!
Many would say "money wasted or more money than sense".
But a few would follow my path if time and funds allowed.

    I love my Mutley.(s)

  17. Spot the not-so deliberate mistakes? Sorry!

  18. Well that's my bubble well and truly burst - and several retailers out of business I shouldn't wonder? ;-)

  19. farkle

F.A.R.K.L.E. -- Fancy Accessory Really Kool Likely Expensive

    accessory.

The word is generally accepted to mean a combination of "function" and "sparkle", hence, farkle.

Motorcycle enthusiasts may install accessories, called farkles (also spelled farkel), to customize their machine.
The term is well known in the sport touring community.

An enthusiast may be in the process of "farkling". The completed motorcycle would be all "farkled up". Radar detectors, Global Positioning System receivers, heated grips, and satellite radios are some of those farkles. Other accessories could be aftermarket seats, side and/or top cases or bar risers, which make the motorcycle more suitable for long miles.

AND I'm proud to be an extensive (addicted) user of such :p

  20. Well things are now fine and dandy. I have swapped the graphic equalizer for a loudness button and the bike is as smooth as I fondly remember my old one being.

Even in urban mode, acceleration is constant, pickup is crisp and the bike is now easily ride-able round town. Thank god for that.

I cannot remember who suggested that an off-the-shelf re-map was like swapping graphic equalizer for a loudness button (aircontech I think) and they will no doubt be suitable disgusted but in my defence, my graphic equalizer was shite and the new loudness button sounds OK to me:) and it took me all of about 25 minutes to achieve last night.

Happy bunny now, thanks everybody for your input and comments on this, please feel free to criticise and mock my wimping out of a trip to Brizzle.
