Same here when I was young didn't see any danger as you get older self preservation kicks in plus we were riding slower smaller cheaper and less powerful bikes I use a Blackbird in the winter when there's black ice or snow I use a Ural outfit with sidecar wheel drive or the car
Bikes are taxed all year round but don't come out in the salt or snow. Use my Dean Ti MTB for commuting as I'm only five miles from work.
My bikes are also taxed all year. Cant see the point in not doing, you never know when we may get the occasional nice day
Will be riding the BM to the NEC on Saturday. Road grime won't make it any uglier.......and it has wonderful two stage heated grips.......and two great big feet heaters that stick out a bit. 900ss is dry roads only in winter.
Looks like rain both days on the weekend in Bristol. Busy couple of weeks so only have time on the weekend. Sad times.
Get out and ride it if it's really cold and the roads salted it looks like this But then you get to see this Then get a hose and wash it ! It's like money if you keep it it does nothing for you , use it / spend it and the rewards are worth a bit of rust
I've heard there is a shop in London for Hipsters who buy adventure bikes for "tours of the world" but never go beyond Chelsea, that sprays Faux mud on Don't know how true that is, just saying :tearsofjoy:

That was last week road from apple cross in Scotland to Inverness we basically went up and round the coast. The snow one was same trip going past glennshee ski place in Scotland . The bike was thick with salt crud every stop had to wash lights but views amazing saw two rutting stags on a ledge above the road , highland cattle etc . Great fun and recommend it !
Nice one. I am always ready to head out anytime during the winter if the weather is ok. Had a lovely run yesterday, heated grips, heated Keis waistcoat and good gear, it was lovely.
Remember the road to Applecross, mega winds with water going UP the waterfalls and bikes being left on their sides in the heather over the top. This was in mid May a few years ago, still stunning scenery which I hope to re visit one day.
