Sleep in the trailer? Lol One of the reasons I always camp at the track or travel the day of the TD, cant sleep anyway if trailer in some dodgy car park
If you're within 2 hours of the track, I'd just get up early and drive there on the day. An early night in your own bed is worth 4 seconds a lap
Thanks, but just found somewhere with large secure car park with door entry codes and fully lit up with CCTV. That will do. Far more than two hours for me I am afraid, more like 4 with traffic. Lets hope it is warmer than -2 then, and dry! See you all there.
Agreed, that's from south London, from Chamonix it's two days, 18 hours riding, flat out through the twisties! Last year though, about two hours south of Calais my bike decided to melt its voltage regulator and loom, taking out the TC system with it for fun - on a Sunday - at which point it became a very long trip!
Bring maybe one bike and squeeze it in to friendly folks vans for the overnight. Am sure there will be someone depending on hotels.
Bookings confirmed and garage allocated to our little lot. A mix of bikes will be with us, from old classic DD bikes, Ex WSB bikes, panigales and Desmo things.
I can thoroughly recommend the Melbourne View Hotel, which is about 1/2 a mile from the paddock entrance at Donington. Lovely family run hotel, excellent modern rooms, great prices, plenty of parking for bikes/trailers/vans and Sally does a wonderful breakfast! You'll find loads of Ducati pics on the walls as her old man is a fan. Stayed there loads of times when racing at Donington and wouldn't go anywhere else. Likely at the mo I'll be riding up on the day, cant order co car yet so no towbar and hiring a van makes it too expensive. That should be fun
I'm not sure yet if I'm going up the night before or early in the morning, but I have room in the van. Might be able to sort something out.
Cool...keep in touch as its bank holiday on the Monday, and I will be away at racing for the weekend, I think staying the night before may be stretching my pass a little...
What about a drink together the night before, for those going up and staying over? It would be good to put a few names to faces, ,but once we all get there in the morning, it's all about the track! Seems we are all staying all over the place, but feasible to get together for a drink? If I can unhitch the trailer and leave it I could. Never tried to do that with the bikes still loaded but could give it a go, or we could meet up where I am staying?
