  1. I phoned up Friday and just paid.

  2. Boo. I'm not sure my new bike will pass that, and it's an expensive day out to get booted in the first session :(

  3. Be a change if they are, wont it!

(spoiling the wonderful sounds of all those quite planes overhead every two minutes for the locals...bloody bikers!)

  4. IIRC Donny don't do any static tests. You get a warning after the 1st time you get pulled in (black flagged) for going over and they suggest putting the baffles in or adding wadding.

2nd time the bike is not allowed back on track.

  5. 98DB sounds like a static test. 89DB like a drive by.

  6. No. It's 98 drive by. Which is a lot louder then 98 static.

  7. As a comparison. Bedford is 101 static and/or 87 drive by.

  8. https://www.msvtrackdays.com/bike/calendar/2019/april/3-dp/

"Please pay special attention to the noise limit. The standard 98db 'drive-by' limit operates throughout the day. This is not comparable to the 92db limits at other venues. Standard exhausts recommended or baffled aftermarket exhausts."

  9. which is my point. Maybe now MSV have it, they are going static testing. 89 would be maybe 105 (?) static

  10. I'd guess about that. I like not having static tests though as I don't like the queue!

  11. My ZX10R with the baffle in failed there a couple of times on Drive by at 99 and a bit. They were pretty cool about it, and the guy just said not to take the piss, but to roll off by the gantry on the S/F straight as that's where the meter is.
My new R1 has a Spark Exhaust, which although is supposed to be quite quiet, I can't see it reading lower than my ZX10 with a baffle, as that sounded like a milk float
I guess I could always just bring both bikes, so I'll see what the weather's doing nearer the time and go from there

  12. Link does suggest 98 ride by...which is probably about 115 static!!!!

  13. Drive by is variable depending on distance.
Silverstone, for example, is 102 drive by and my bike passes that without baffle, as the sound meters are quite some distance back from the track
Donington's is about 10 foot away from where you're on full gas, so reads very high

  14. But full gas withbiprn system is loud. Like 115 plus static loud easily. GP bikes are what, 130 flat out?!

  15. I'm not exactly sure how loud the GP bikes are in decibels, but having been in the garages at Silverstone when they started up and rev'd the Honda RC213 GP Bike for a private test, the feeling of my ears ringing two days later will confirm they're f'ing loud
I'd definitely suggest 120+ on full chat static

  16. WP_20151205_004.jpg Get a MHP 3/4 system for your big-bang 98-101dB static at least on my bike, mapped to 202bhp.

  17. My bike originally came with a CFM ti system, that was mega loud

But I’ve just changed it for a Spark system, which I’m hoping makes similar to yours

The problem with R1’s and static vs drive by is that the engines make a lot more noise under full load

  19. Where exactly is the meter? I've always done noisy days at Donington so I've never paid attention to that side of things...

  20. Ain't that the truth! You can hear eff all at the brief (no bad thing) due to aircraft heaving themselves into the sky on full throttle :astonished:
