Maybe somebody can help me out, already send Ducati a email but know from 2 years ago they do not do that anymore but still give it a try ;-). Looks like the bike is produced in 1998, VIN number is ZDMH100AAWBxxxxxx, the W tells me it is produced in 1998, X is 1999. Bike is registered in 1999 and on the papers it tells 996SPS, checked the fairings all stamps and so on are Ducati genuine. Seller tells me it is a genuine 996SPS. On the internet I find only "X" 996SPS so produced in 1999, or "W" is 1998 do exist ?
The 996sps used the same engine as the 916sps, so despite the 996sps being produced in 1999, is it possible the very early ones could have used up 916sps cases ? This could explain the 1998 date stamp. Andy
Does the 996SPS has not a other frame as the 916SPS, tubing is thicker and still lighter. I could see that on the 916S what was standing there, the tubing is a bit thinner.
