The oil weeping from the filter can be cured by nipping it up. Recently I've had two filters do this on my Muttley and 749, so I've switched to the K&N filter with the nut on the end. To cure the water in the front coil, buy a later 06 stick coil with the lead attached, this has a better seal and the electrical connector can be routed to the top of the battery box. Also re-locate the fuel injection relay there too. There is a holder already in place for the relay.
My OEM Ducati filter started leaking as well and tightening it did not help. I presume there was a manufacturing defect on the press. Replaced with K&N.
Hi, old thread but fault still persisted so last week I have: Replaced oil and fitted k and n filter (leak fixed) New coolant and hose clip (leak fixed) New spark plugs Reset tps as I now have diagnostic software on my laptop and the correct leads to connect up. Yet to fully try bike out on a fast ride but will let you know.
Don't forget, you mustn't exceed 60 mph on a single carriageway road and 70 mph on a motorway. Just thought I should point that out.
Great thread! My 749’s revs are dropping to zero when idling or in gear(even when holding a constant throttle position), I will check the crank sensor, horizontal coil and starter relay.
Yes, I'm finding this thread useful as well. At idle my 749 drops to almost stalling, then recovers. However when riding anywhere under 6000RPM, when I twist the throttle rapidly, the bike falls flat on it's face until the revs pick up then it accelerates as it should. It's quite alarming when going out to pass another vehicle. I give it the gas to get around the car, and it bogs right down. nearly tossing me into the wind screen.
