Yeah they dropped it trying to ride it in to the workshop from what I understand. It's not big damage but it's spread over a lot of parts. Tank, top fairings both sides and lower on right (stones flew up and damaged the left), brake lever front and rear, rear set on r/h, mirror, nose fairing and screen, clutch cover, paddock stand bobbin, bar end. Fair amount really, going to cost them a pretty penny
Honestly mate that sounds like a write off! Even at dealer prices that's going to cost £2500-3000k probably. Have u checked to see if there is damage to the swingarm? I would do so first as they might try to claim it was already there. I'm sure they are trying to help but that's going to really hurt them!!!
The tech rode the bike up the side of the ramp in to the workshop that is gravel and not concrete and lost his footing apparently. My bike is only 7 months old, but I've left the ball in their court, they know they're going to have to make it as good as new or sort me a very nice deal on a 1299. I know accidents happen but I can't help but think things like this are very amateur for a main dealer.. Swing arm etc is all okay and I have pictures of all the damage. As I say the damage is light but effects many areas :disappointed:
Go down the 1299 route put a positive spin on it onwards and upwards but if you do decide to keep it make sure you see all the new parts that are going to be fitted to your bike
Really bad luck mate, try to turn it into a positive. If you are serious about the 1299 route, I feel you should push/steer towards this. The dealer should be happy to take yours as part ex ( they are shifting well at the mo) and I agree the discount on the 1299 should be healthy to reflect this unfortunate situation. Good luck with it.
Thanks everyone Appreciated. I am hugely p*ssed off but shouting and screaming won't help anything, it's happened now, nothing I can do. No idea why the tech went up the side of the ramp road though. Horrible though because I'm very fond of my 899 it's a cracking little bike.
Surely there is an option for a great deal on a 959? Even with the full under slung exhausts but discounted it would be cheaper than a base 1299? Personally I still believe the 899/959 offer a great road experience
I love the 899 and to be honest if I'm going to change might as well make it worth while and go for the full fat option lol
Update My bike is to be repaired. I've been told everything will be replaced with new parts and it'll be as new again. My bike was completely spotless so hopefully they won't try and cut corners because I will know. I think they know that though.
LoL I'll likely keep it this year and perhaps off load next year. It's such a well balanced package, hard one to beat. Be nice to have her back looking new.
