1199 Ducati 899 - 959 - 1199 - 1299 Modifications - What Have You Done To Yours?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Rob Jarvis, Jun 30, 2015.

  1. This question might be better off in another thread Mike so it gets better visibility. I'm not sure about clip-on risers and the like, but something that helps with the comfort of my wrists is the techspec 'tank' pads (these ones are actually on the fairing) I've fitted. I use them to lock my knees in and push myself upward meaning I can take a little weight off my wrists. It also means under braking I'm not sliding forwards and therefore transfering weight onto my wrists. They've made quite a big difference for me. I didn't bother with the pads that stick onto the tank that come in the kit as I thought they looked shite, but they would probably help even more. Might be worth a shot for the sake of £30ish.

  2. Good shout on both counts Matt! Thanks

  3. No worries. The only UK distributor for Techspec tank pads are 'Speedycom', website here... Techspec Gripster Tank Pads...

Looks like I got the price wrong too, they're £50ish for the snakeskin version that I have. There are similar offerings from R&G, but they use a very thin material whereas the techspec pads are actually quite thick.

  8. Just out of interest why remove the standard monoblock calipers to replace them with the older m4 monoblock? Surely a step sideways Rather than forwards as I'm sure tech has got better since 2007 when they were first seen on a 1098. I'd of gone to m50 calipers from a 1199 but understand they have a wider track so a bit more hassle

  9. I dread to think what my total spend is. I've been through 2 carbon huggers, 3 different heat shields, I had a ducabike clear cover then decided I didn't like it. I could have easily bought myself an S model with the money I've spent, but hey ho :)

  10. Valid points, the m50's don't work unless you fit the 1199 abs pump, I have spoken to people that tried and they had issues with the abs cutting in all the time and warning lights on

So I tried the m4's and they have the same feel and bit as the m50's, theirs a big improvement in performance over the standard calipers which I didn't like the feel off and on track they didn't fill me with confidence on the late breaking front

Along with the 19mm master cylinder they now stop as well and as quick as my mates 1199 so job done

  11. I had a 848 fitted with M4's and HEL individual lines and the brakes were brilliant. I tested a 899 and the brakes were rubbish compared which made me a bit confused. I ended up buying a 1199 which was in a different league with the M50's. Now ive got a 899 and my brakes are loads better than the 899 i tested originally. Id say a bit better feel than the M4 on my 848.

  12. Put some decals on today

  16. Ordered one from the very friendly Julian at Moto Rapido. An S with Akro's, a carbon hugger, obligatory tank pad, a trickle charger and the tracker. The Akro's were gifted, the remainder was my first of many spends on un-neccessary 'Stuff'. There were 6 in stock, so I chose the reddest one they had, with the goldest Ohlins. Is it ready yet......is it, is it.

  19. How frustrating that the weather is closing in. New Bike with a mere 19 miles on the clock, I cannot find it in myself to go get her minging. Putting 600 miles on the clock before Feb is going to be hard work, I need a roasting dry day to go bang a load of miles on.
