I know they are 'only' paddock stands, but both are bloody nice! @Jolley are you modding/bypassing the ABS?
No. You can just turn it off... the hassle and weight loss aren’t worth it. Also, if I come to re-sell it would be a pain to sort out again. Plus, on a wet trackday it is nice to put on a low setting just incase!
I know there were issues with the ABS and pump giving a spongy feel on the lever on the 899, hence many were bypassed.
I’ll see how it goes. They definitely feel pants when the abs comes on... bike just runs on. I didn’t have the last one long enough to push it with it turned off. I can always add it to the list if it becomes a problem.
From what (little) I've read, the pump stays in place or the electronics spaz out. Mines been bypassed (hydraulics) but the pump is still on the bike and plugged in. As an aside, I've only been tinkering with the 899 for a short time and a couple of things quickly become clear. The design brief must have been 'go do something different'. You take your spanners to a 748 - 1198 and the lineage is clear. The Pani is quite different to what came before, even smarter. Simple stuff; removing the fuel tank, the pump is easily unplugged from the rear of the tank, then just one quality quick release connector, with enough slack in the fuel line to lift. The framless design is a bit of a pain for the home mechanic, but actually bloody clever, must be quick and easy to knock these out at the factory. Just hope I like riding it
I may as well leave it all plumbed in then! ...and if any of you out brake me I’ll blame the ABS unit!
I have a spare m/c for these calipers. It was a spare for my 1299. Could do a swap with your 899 M/C... gives me a spare for my 959 then.
