1199 Ducati 899 - 959 - 1199 - 1299 Modifications - What Have You Done To Yours?

  1. I see you've gone for solid non-folding footrests, any particular reason?
    Just wondering...

  2. Yeah we were in garages 1 & 2 but it was organised by Ducati Stoke. But no, it wasn't me, mine's in Spain and so will I be as of Monday for 3 days around Almeria :))

There are a few of us who have the same fairing set, as the team had 4 bikes in all. I'm looking to change but not sure what to go to.

  3. A bit of added crash protection......I've also got so GB Racing engine covers on the way....

  4. Lovely offer but I'm too tired from cleaning the bike....

  5. Ok but just FYI I was advised the reason the DP rearsets are folding is because the rearsets bolt to the frame radially. In a crash the solid footrest transmits force to those radial lugs on the frame and could bend them. Unlike most other bikes which seem to have non-radial bolts to secure the rearsets. Don't know how true the above is but from an engineering view it looks like it might make sense?

  6. Personally the only cash protection I'd buy, having decked my bike, is Woodcraft. It's billet and on the clutch side, equipped with a replaceable billet slider (in a choice of colours!). Costs about £100. On the clutch, I have seen GB Racing covers worn through (A Focused Events hire bike) & personally seen my own Ducati "Performance" protector simply ripped off as the bike slide down Craners at Donington.

  7. No such thing on a Duc:)

  8. What did you polish it with? I've found the paint swirls if you so much as look at it the wrong way?

  9. Randomly, I made best progress with a DA, green 3m compounding pad and meguiars 105. Tried the flex rotary with various pads and polishes and it just wasn't working. I was happy with a couple of passes with that before wiping down with eraser and checking it.

  10. Thanks. I didn't have the nerve to do mine properly since the paint / plastic appeared so soft. I did an ok job on the car a couple of times (borrowing someone's Rupes something or other) but wasn't brave enough for the bike. I eventually put Ventureshield on mine after 4000 miles or so. I wish I'd done it at the start since the cleaning process / polishing (taking it really easily just to remove the lightest of swirls etc) took an age and the odd stone chip etc showed up badly under the film.

    Thanks.

  12. I was just thinking - my tub of swissvax didn't do much for it. And then realised the crystal rock is the £1,000 a tub stuff isn't it (well, retail at least) ????!!!!!!!!

  13. I think it retails at £800 a pot but only a madman would pay that! Managed to pick some up a while ago pretty cheaply!

  14. How much room is there under the rear wheel?

  15. image.jpg On a flat surface it sits much higher.
As you can see here, the wheels of the rear stand are sat in the gaps of the decking so it dropped about 15mm.

  18. Hopefully I wont have to product test them.........

  19. I have the Harris stands and there isn't much room at all under the tyre.

Doubt you would get warmers on there and tyre changes would be a bit more awkward.
