14mm was the accepted figure, so that’s what I set my carbs to. That not actually being correct would explain a lot as I never could get the fuelling perfect.
I know it's a thread divert..........but maybe it will help another carbed SS owner anyway..... As a starting point use 12mm.
I got through the noise test OK. I made up a set of 80mm long 35mm id perforated tubes that sandwiched between the can end cap and can. I drilled out the pop rivets and used rivnuts and flanged stainless button head screws. It got through the 94db test at 93.something db. I since then have picked up a set of SilMoto carbon cans and they are even quieter!
