998 Ducati 998r #443 Restoration

Great looking bike and restoration. My only very minor gripe is the alignment of the end cans relative to the seat unit, as they seem cocked off to the right when viewed from behind and are not equidistant either side. I had a similar problem on my 748SPS many years ago and had the tubes heated and bent in a mandrel so as they bolted up dead square. Same on my 998S but I cured that with some light persuasion and spacing collars. In both cases these were new bikes with factory Termignoni systems but from the off it bugged me into sorting them out. Saying all that it is nice to see a bike in it's original guise. Congrats. I might possibly be after a 999R to restore now that the V4 is finished.

I am also at a rebuild project and i ordered this powder coat as i think it looks very well matched to the original colour.

I also recognized that the powder is satin finish described.
My local powder coater told me that he will use also a clear coat.

Maybe you can tell a little more about the "bit of magic" that your coater did to it?

That would be helpful and i would like to give that information to my powder coater to avoid mistakes.

I think I came across your bike listed on FB for sale and just saw it's pending. You did a really fantastic job on the resto and I'm sure the new owner will be gitty with excitement! Shame you had to let her go. I hope the new owner will be active online and continue sharing it.

Did you ride the finished bike much before you sold it?
