Ducati aftercare - shocking

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by GarySN, Mar 11, 2014.

  1. Yeh mate same problem on a 62 plate multistrada s touring - have contacted ducati glasgow and they wanted photos etc ....but that will show nothing as under the paint right !! ....have told them that have heard of others on forum with same problem so will wait n see if they do the honourable thing as this should not happen on a new and otherwise mint bike?? - have you had news on yours and what they will/won't do ?

  2. No news yet cause I haven't been back to the shop. Will try and make it this weekend and update when I have one.
It's not good and getting worse. I wondered if it had anything to do with the water held in the rad after a wash. Must be at least a litre drain out when I put the bike on it's sidestand. Having said that everyone would have the same problem. Just poor quality finish if you ask me.

  3. Willinam, my dealership will be replacing my radiator under warranty. Should be arriving next week.

  4. Now have R&G covers on my engine sides. Fed up looking at poo paint finish.

  5. I've had BMWs and Triumphs from 2006 onwards which have had finishing problems but a 1999 955i which still looked great. Not making excuses for the industry but apparently the EU outlawed the use of some highly toxic - but very effective paints and coatings in the mid 2000s leaving manfs with no choice but to use much less toxic (but shit) paints. Hence why owners of 10 year old Hondas etc will have no crispy casings but your 12 month old Ducati / BMW will.

No excuse for rusty chains, bolts and warped brake rotors though...

  6. Was you claim within the warranty period ?

  9. The original claim was under warranty, but I was out of warranty by the time I claimed for the replacements, which were less than a year old when they went the same way.
