Thought I’d run Elsie up for an mot but she wouldn’t rev over 6k and generally flat as a witch’s tit so stopped and put some new plugs in but no difference so back home and whipped the carbs off. Right carb was ok but left float bowl had quite a bit of a gold coloured Crystal type substance so out with a tin of carb cleaner and removed all the jets etc before giving them a squirt. Set the float heights at 21mm and feels like a different bike revving out in all gears and would have gone off the clock in top if I’d had a bit more road. Brakes are still rubbish though !
This is my 1952 Tornax V200 believed to be the only bike of that make in the UK. I would love to be wrong on that though. It's a 197cc two stroke single with twin port exhaust, 12 bhp and a 4 speed gearbox. It has a gear indicator in form of a small round instrument behind the headlight and also came with a bar of Abrador sandy soap in a small compartment in the tank which is still present. I bought this bike when I was 17 as a wreck and intended it to be my first Motorbike. I stripped it to start restoring it, put it in a big box and left it there for 24 and a half years. I then continued the restoration and finished a week before the 25th anniversary of me buying the bike. I waited 7 days and started it exactly 1/4 of a century after purchasing it. Could this be the longest restoration ever?
Dave Whattham has done another big power LC. This ones a 535 I’ll put a picture of the bike up when it’s done.
