Ducati Glasgow poor servise

Discussion in 'Dealer & Workshop reviews' started by ducjay, Aug 7, 2013.

  1. DG, Martin and his team will still be getting my money....

My initial thought was that it was a strange claim and the more it unravels the more I can't appreciate the complaint against DG, when the bike was maintained as the previous owner requested but was 'sold as seen' privately, with nothing to do with DG.

You pays your money and takes your chances....or buy from a dealer where you can request things be documented for your later protection, or pay for a proper inspection of the bike just incase you miss something when viewing.

  2. Service your bike yourself - then you know its done right.

  3. Dealer sells ex-demo bike to a customer. Bike has not been subject to full and regular service work in most of it's life, particularly by the original selling dealer, nor maybe by the owner. That much is documented. It is bought by someone who thinks he gets a bargain low miles bike - from the seller. The seller "ups" the spec (as everybody does, yes?) and the buyer feels he has been sold a pup. The fact that it was ORIGINALLY ex demo has no credibility here - it's bought privately and the seller probably makes a "selling" point of it being ex-demo, buyer falls for it then gets upset when all is not well.......

Nothing whatsoever to do with DG. Nothing. Your gripe starts and ends with the guy you bought it from.

I personally will accept no shit about DG. Martin spent over two hours on and off, on the phone to me when my 1098 failed in a thunderstorm three years ago, on my way to the Masher. By quizzing his staff, and suggesting self help, with their guidance I got going and saved the weekend trip. They could have just said "fuck off we don't want to know" - but they didn't. All I have ever bought from them is a T-shirt! On the way back from said trip I dropped the bike and bent my gear lever. Limped it down to DG for 100 miles and the shifting was quite "iffy". It was Sunday afternoon, Martin let me strip the lever off and lent me the use of the workshop to straighten it out. Service above and beyond I say.

It's not a million miles from your place to theirs, you could have called and/or gone down to see them. No, it's easier to spout shit in public, hoping for empathy. Get real, Ducjay, we see right through you. Bollock the person you bought it from. Then yourself for getting suckered.

Hi Martin, hope you are well. :upyeah:

p.s. that t-shirt is worn out now, clearly not fit for purpose. Send me a new one by return and nothing more will be said.

  4. Can you prove it was washed and ironed at the correct service intervals as recommended by the manufacturer?

  5. I'm pretty good at reading and comprehension, it's taken a while to piece it all together but I reckon I summarised it correctly FROM WHAT I HAVE READ. It certainly doesn't appear that you personally have spoken to anybody at DG, only to the seller. We all say things we want the buyer to be happy with. Don't we? You seemed happy or you wouldn't have bought it.

Martin is somebody I have met three times I think in all, but I personally know others who know him well and apart from you I have never heard a word against him or his business. Yes, I would call him a friend but not in the luvvy duvvy way you seem to imply.

The t-shirt is a jokey aside in case you don't understand............and Martin certainly doesn't need me to stick up for him. I was using anecdotal evidence to make my point a little more valid in your eyes, not that I need to IMO. Go and do one.

"Time for bed", said Zebedee....boing! You're probably too young to understand that

  6. Can anyone tell me where in any part of the service schedule is says to clean that mesh filter? it sits inside the pump flange and is not normally in view and its not the fuel filter that you have to change
I know 749/999 models suffered with rusting tanks and could be due to not being used stored with fuel in the tank

  7. Two versions of events here regarding the service history. Why not post pictures of the stamped service book clearly showing the DG stamp along with your bike`s registration number, service date and mileage ? Post the invoices too if you have them. That would clear up any ambiguity regarding the service history although it is possible of course that the parts pictured are not from the bike in question or were fitted at a later date. I`m not accusing anyone of anything, just saying that this is a possibility.

  8. But do you? How do you know what he says are 'facts'?

  9. If you are going to do this (which I have no issue with) please remember that you do not want to post chassis number / engine number and reg number on a public forum. Got to think about about personal security and cloning here folks. Although it's up to the o/p how to proceed with respects to that aspect, my warning is genuine and based in experience here.

Fair enough we have a dispute which can be resolved (given the chance if a dialogue does commence) but everyone should be careful with this kind of sensitive info folks.

And tbh, this info will only back up the bike up the timescale of servicing I have noted and not a guarantee as to the work done so unfortunately it's almost a moot point i'm afraid.

I think it's best for me to back away from this thread as much as poss now, going round in circles is getting us nowhere. I have explained I am open to discussion and will happily leave that invitation open ended to ducjay.

  10. I didn't call you a liar. Fact. I am not defending DG just stating my experiences with them. Fact. As Martin says you needed to speak with him, nobody else. Fact. You have lost any chance of an amicable settlement now, I reckon - that is possibly a fact.

Now run along and eat your packed lunch. Make sure you get an adult to supervise.

  11. Ducjay out of interest would you like to tell us how long you have known the person who sold you the bike and why you believe every word he says as true

  12. [

Thanks for the suggestion to post service records ETC but Martin is correct on this.[/QUOTE]

Fair enough, but do you have the service book or actual invoices showing the bike in question has been serviced by DG at the correct time/mileage as specified by Ducati and also are you absolutely 100 % certain that the parts you posted photos of are those originally fitted to the bike at the factory and that nothing has been replaced ? For example could the previous owner have damaged the bike and bought some replacement parts second hand ?
If you are spot on about the servicing and that all on the bike is original then I would think a personal chat with Martin would be very much in your interests even if you never use DG again.

  13. Hallelujah......

I would have thought that would have been the best course of action to begin with tbh.

Give it a try Ducjay, it's usually the best way......you might be surprised.

Then again if I'd been carved up as much as DG....then probably not.

  14. 'cos you're behaving like a spotty teenager IMO. Immature, talking out of turn, accusing without facts, lacking knowledge of the world, never wrong, inability to shut up and get out while the getting is good, blah, blah.

The hole just gets deeper. Wanna buy a new shovel? Your's is worn out........

  15. Do you not think this should be discussed with Martin now off the forum and in private where it should have been done in the first place
This is none of the forums business until you can't get it resolved.

The manager is who should have clarified the situation and if you were struggling with contacting him maybe PM on here would have been better

  16. I think you have just proven Supervees point.
i am sure like me he has read your facts. Prove me wrong but it appears that you have bought a dud off someone you don't know and you clearly know you have no comeback on without a costly protracted court case so you thought you would have a pop at Ducati Glasgow on an open forum in the hope that they would be embarrassed into sorting it
I think you are the one who has in your words been "cought"

  17. a psychologist too - your talent knows no bounds

  18. So in summary

bike bought privately and seller showed surprise as to tank as it was 'fully serviced' by DG
Spoke to DG tech who said they sometimes dont go as schedule, but seems like context of converstaion is missing; was it a complaint? Was it specifially about this bike or general comment?
Didn't escalate as compliamt to the boss (above from Martin) before jumping on www

observation from a not know it all

-your beef is with the seller
-if seller feels he was ripped off by DG he should be jumping at them
-DG has rep for excellent service and above and beyond and Martin has even offered an olive branch in his post

Seems to me no reputational damage to DG but OP has unreal expectations

  19. Martin has been in business a long long time, he clearly does it for more than cash. I posted on one of the other threads about my experiences with everybody at DG which is :upyeah:

I think as the facts have dribbled out, any reasonable person can clearly see DG have been vindicated.

Why are 3 threads running on one issue? Especially one attacking a dealer, without the the OP having given the dealer a chance to address said grievances?

Corrosion in the tank is this even a service schedule item? Its small beer IMHO for such a long running and potentially damaging thread.

Right I'm away round to see DG, they have serviced my 1098 since new and the tyres wore out and the battery died.............what sort of a way to treat a customer is that?

    Jeez!!!!!
