  2. Oh yeah, how were the brakes?

  3. have they recently moved? I'm sure i drove by a Ducati dealership in glasgow about 10 years ago, could have sworn it was a little shop on a busy street

  4. See post 14 - it often helps to read the thread :yum

  5. The old place was like the Tardis. When you went inside it just kept going. And going..... It was a lot bigger than it initially appeared.

  6. And there were fab coffee shops outside, @Old Jock?

  7. I've not been to the new place, (it will never be the same for me since Harry the parts guy left, I think @Geoffduk feels the same). New place is over on the South side. The old shop was on Gt Western Rd & @bettes is right quite a few pretty good coffee shops in the area.

The old place had quite a bit of history, it used to be Victor Devines back in the day they were a Triumph and Honda dealer, now just Honda I think. I picked up a Trident from there, didn't think I'd be picking up a Ducati from virtually the same spot 30 years later.

That whole area was called New City Rd in the 60s before the council did their Brave New World thing and realigned all the roads.

There were loads of bike shops there, just rows and rows of motorcycles all parked up, tried to find some pictures but failed miserably.

  8. interesting stuff. i mind walking down that road years ago looking for a bike shop, cant mind which one and walking in to what i know know was DG, i think they might of just opened at the time and walked straight back out again. i didnt feel dressed correctly for the occasion. bit of a greaser back then.
aye, there used to be lots of bikes shops around there
i went to Kawasaki for a launch night across the road?, under a bridge? GPX?
the good ol days. and yip, Harry was/is a character. good guy.

  9. My mate hired one for the Ducati track day at Donington. He got on with it very well, was massively impressed and started talking about prices. He hasn't bought one yet, but it was close.

  11. I'll be come to see you in a couple of weeks, when I get home, I have some money to spend on my new multistrada

  13. Stay 15 minutes ‘walk’ from the new place and no longer enter Ducati or Triumph as owned by the same person. Harry was the last straw but many other major issues for me personally. Before someone gets concerned and tries to get me banned from this forum I have no intention of discussing why - life’s too short and many others like the place like I used to so each to ones own. Shame as I’ve owned my Meriden Triumph for 40 years - has 639k miles on her and I’ve been a member of the TOMCC since the 80s and will never enter my local dealer. Found an excellent service from Moto Rapido now and now retired carry out all my own work so don’t need to use them for anything.

  14. Moto Rapido? No wonder you've got 639k miles on the bugger.

  15. Like you I'm not even going to even think about going into MY reasons. A combination of events just put me off a bit and I'm not so keen anymore

    I'll leave it at that.

Good luck to them though it's nice to see a Ducati dealer in the Glasgow area and one that's doing well to boot

  19. You can get a bus into Glasgow centre but that means bringing a change of clothes and shoes. I just bring a good book :bucktooth:

  20. Harry was a great asset to Ducati Glasgow, and was a pleasure to deal with. I don't know why he left and it is not any of my business. But Ian , who has taken over Harry's duty is a lovely guy ; nothing is too much trouble for him. Always going the extra mile to help me.
