1260 Ducati Multistrada 1260 V4 !! 190hp

  1. After Carlin Dunne's tragic accident at last years Pikes Peak race I wonder whether we will see another Pikes Peak variant in the range again.

My friend, who is on here, is a suspension specialist, he has commented to me on several occasions that the GS handles annoying well, that has the same set 19" front 17" rear same tyre sizes, so for me, it will be let's see, I am sure the magazine boys will soon be riding them around Cyprus, with there reviews and comments on them!!

  6. Talking with my dealer, he has 21 orders (read deposits made) already for various V4 Multi models so some have taken a punt already! I'll wait - the 1260 is still a great bike and can hold better corner speed and out grunt a 1250GS on corner exits. I will agree that a GS does handle well having ridden hired GS's abroad but, for me, I don't like the lack of feel from the front end.
    The new V4 has good points and not so good ones, it looks like any other bike now and has lost that distinctive Ducati look in my eyes. Plus at almost £25k for what I would want it is step too far.

  8. The price isnt hugely different between a V4 S and a 1260 S, its about 500 quid.
    Given the amount of additional improvements and toys as standard I think its a pretty good deal.

    A V4S with just the travel pack is below 20k. Thats not hugely more expensive than a 1260 S or an enduro with luggage.

    I suppose the best way to think about it is, if you are about to change then the V4 gives you another option, not a replacement.
    I would imagine for those that buy using PCP, the big question will be what the GFV is, and so the monthly payment.
     
  9. I tested one before getting my 1260 back in 2019. It was a great bike but with a few big issues - all got fixed in the 2020 model so I think you'll like it.

  11. Not that it interests me but, I am told ---

    There will be a Pikes Peak V4 version with a 17" front wheel in Mid 2021, was going to be in March but been put back by another 3 months (ish). Comes with paint job, Akro end can, carbon bits and price tag to match.

  13. That I don't know but doubt it somehow. Came up in a conversation about how Ducati are really trying to reduce weight in many of the new models and the SSSA is heavy.

    Some nice touches on the new model/versions, but I am incredibly disappointed to say, it looks like one of my all-time "unfavourite" bikes; A BMW GS! :broken_heart:
    OMG I'm struggling to like how it looks, genuinely so, as for me, it simply doesn't look as good as the 1260, which also has its own 'issues'......:astonished:
    As I've said before and I apologise in advance for repetition here: I will wait to let others iron out the wrinkles and don't wish to be a Ducati "test-pilot".
    I'm very happy in my relationship with my 1260S for at least another 12-18 months, so once a few others on this ere forum have test-ridden, bought 'fully-loaded' of course and then decided the V4 whatever, doesn't do it for them......because, then I might go looking for a bargain!:scream:

  15. Ah crap.....I wanted a superbike with long legs and the ability to put panniers on for work and then take them off again at the weekend and go scratching. The very essence of what a Ducati multi is to me. I don’t want a 19” front or a japanese swingarm. I think I’ll be sticking with my 1200s so I can go to work, scratch at weekends, chuck a tent on the back now and then etc. It’s got more soul than this new one. Radar not for me either. Some clever ideas and the looks are gowing. Ducati need to sharpen their pencil a bit before I’d be parting with my hard-earned.

  16. Each to their own I guess, I have been looking at the Multistrada for a while, but just didn’t like the engine, now this V4 has a lot of soul in my opinion, I currently ride a Panigale V4S.
    The tech and screen with integrated sat nav is superb.
    I am so sold on the V4 engine, that I’ve placeed a pre order in for a V4S Multistrada without even riding one lol

  17. That's exactly what I love so much about my 1260S. Whilst I'm quite keen on the new model in general, they've just gone way too offroad for me. I don't know who can afford to go offroad in a 20k bike (or who would want to!). Still, let's hope they have a brand new sport adventure bike coming to plug the gap which is fully road and sport focussed, whilst maintaining the comfort and practicality of the current Multis.

    We have several desmo v twin dukes in our stable, I love them, I don’t mind change but I think the DNA of Ducati has been a little lost here. I’m sure it’s a great bike and will sell like hot cakes.

  19. I do kind of like the overall package and I’m sure the V4 will be a hoot to ride. But where is the raw Italian sexiness and sleek lines? It looks good as a stand alone bike but it’s missing the sleek lines of previous models imo. Looks aren’t everything but it’s Italian so has to have the distinct multi look. I’ll still have one in due course no doubt

  20. I asked my dealer what the other announcements will be

    New Monster / Diavel Scheme Update / X Diavel Scheme Update / Changes Super Sport and Pan V4R Models

    NO 17" FW or SSSA planned on this.

    It will be the replacement for the 1260 Enduro eventually... that will get dropped.. when current stock is Sold.

    The S Sport is as sporty as they get as far as he knows...
