1260 Ducati Multistrada 1260 V4 !! 190hp

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by victit, Jul 9, 2019.

  1. Isn't the Street fighter filling the void of an upright sportsbike?

As good as my two Multis were, they were an all round bike with a slightly sporting edge. We don't know yet if the V4 version fulfills that role.

  2. yes,but not an upright SPORTS tourer...

  3. Problem with the V4SFS is that all the Power is up at the top end of the rev range like the 2018/ 19 V4 Pani's were I believe. Just wondering if they've used the 2020 V4 electronics etc in the 2021 SFS in order to make it more rideable and suitable for the road.

  4. Well that doesn’t seem to be making any difference, judging by how many deposits have been placed so far.

  5. Completed.

I also spoke to my dealer yesterday, told him to sit on my deposit for now, I need to see and ride one before I commit, and may wait a year, see what changes.

  6. Just filled this in, and I didn’t pull any punches. The V4 really hasn’t impressed me in the pictures.
But if Ducati have a modern sports tourer (a la ST range) in the pipeline I’d forgive them.
The V4 could be their Harley Pan America moment......not a good look

  7. I've filled it in too, slightly pissed last night. Made me more honest probably.
I've definitely decided to keep my 1200S for a while, just bought a go faster pipe and a few other bits and bobs to sparkle her up a bit. Much cheaper than a new bike.

  8. My 1260 is now booked for the full system this week. Before the launch I seriously thought about using the money I’m spending on that against a new bike, but am hugely disappointed with the V4. I won’t be buying a V4 until some big changes are made, which may never happen.

I’ve completed the questionnaire. Not that they’ll listen to me.

  9. I've completed the survey myself, two days ago. They had questions about every single thing that is being talked about on this thread. As if they knew EXACTLY what they were screwing up on the new model. It seems like they deliberately ignored the audience wanting a high performance sport tourer. Having said that, I don't have their statistics, they do. But to me, at the moment, there is a gaping hole in the fleet. A hole that BMW does not have while there is a XR.

The fluidity of the shape of all the V2 liquid cooled Multistradas is gone. It now looks like any other japanese bike. What has been a light, sleek, continuous flowing silhouette is now a body full of lumps and parts that don't seem to belong to the same design. It may work, it may be comfortable but it looks awful.

The V2 of the previous models was (and still is) a gem. Especially in its latest iteration of the 1260. For me 10 HP more and 60K km service intervals won't cut it, although there's no denying that it is quite an achievement. Especially if it isn't as elastic as the V2, with torque everywhere (and I can't see how this is achievable. Maybe with the gearing, although it won't be a characteristic of the motor but a clever workaround). And if it is thirsty, it will be another drawback. We'll have to see.

Lastly, this bike is heavier by 6 kg. Since, they motor is 1.2 kg lighter than the V2 and the DSSA is one third of the SSSA's weight (ok, maybe not that much but it's definitely lighter), where did all the additional weight come from? Is it just the exhaust? Is it the frame? Is it the rest of it? Not impressed. And I wanted to be.

I'll stick to my 150HP, 192kg Multi for another four years, it seems, as I cannot imagine them having a totally different bike in the making in the next 12 months ...

  10. I was thinking of changing my 16 DVT sports tourer for a new V4 but not now, if anything I might wait until the new year to see if any cheap 1260’s come my way.

When I say cheap, I mean cheaper, nothing with Ducati is cheap.

Filled in the survey as well.

  11. Survey completed, like many here I am not impressed with the V4 and will not be upgrading. Better treat the old girl to its first Desmo service before next spring. :)

  12. im in the same boat. Bought a 16 DVT as a step into a V4. Will give it a test next spring, but not convinced.
Took out a GS1250 and RS1250 last month. Didn’t like the GS front wheel feeling. The RS was very nice! Sorry!!‍♂️

May swap Multi and M1200s both in for a Streetfighter V4S. As long as they bring out a Piles Peak colour scheme!

  13. Well it looks like the 1260 is now only available in Enduro (because they are selling old stock that did not sell)

So I guess the next 6 months will tell us whether Ducati made a good choice or not.

I just completed the survey too...

  14. Is everyone forgetting that there are another 4 launch days?

  15. No

    New Monster
    Modified Scheme Diavel
    Modified Scheme Diavel X
    Modified SuperSport (more than paint)
Modified V4R Pani (more than paint)

  16. One of the bikes is a new Scrambler. I think that is this weeks launch.

  17. The way things are going, it won't be an excessively long way away when a newly launched multi has no cylinders, just an electric motor in there, with lots of batteries, full of electronics and nothing else, now that will cause some upset!!

  18. only new colors..

  19. I filled in the survey. Told it as I see it, nuts developing a V4 and putting it in an off roader. Ugly at that.
    Requested a V4 sport tourer.

  20. All that was ever required was a shorter, sharper 1260 with good quality suspension. Much prefer the looks of the 2013 model year, which only needed quality suspension back and front and some better quality fittings anyway.
They seem to be losing the plot.
