1260 Ducati Multistrada 1260 V4 !! 190hp

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by victit, Jul 9, 2019.

  1. Its not a race track though. Its a hill climb

I was lucky enough to have some free laps on a racetrack with my Multi. Its not something I would want to pay for.

  2. Sorry. But that’s like saying the TT isn’t a race track... Don’t get your point

Do you think the new v4 with less torque, heavier, limited tyre choice and less sports oriented sizes, would get to the top of pikes before a 1260 PP ... somehow I don’t think so.
Just got to hope that they launch something later that could at least compete with it.

  4. I think it all boils down to what you want and what you expect from a bike, I want a good, reliable sport's touring bike that I can take anywhere, two-up, fully luggaged, on my travels around Europe over the last seven years I have come across all sorts of roads, going from brand new tarmac to virtually gravel paths (Same road number), not intentional either, but that's what you can get touring in Europe following a sat nav, looking forward to seeing the first of the real-life reviews from the magazine, hopefully, we can all make a more informed judgement then!!

  5. Well, just based on looks alone as I'm no riding God, I'm out, it's not for me I'm afraid. Compared to my DVT it looks like a Fordson Major :(

  6. Next instalment tomorrow. I’m assuming the TK01RR is an e-bike, but wondering what the new Supersport is.

    V4? We can dream.

  7. Triumph’s day to day..

  8. SuperSport V4
    Where's that "fingers crossed" emoji?

That's what I'm hoping for. In fact I really believe that's what Ducati is planning. Not that I'm planing to buy now since I'm absolutely enchanted with the current 1260 Multistrada Pikes Peak but I will be looking at a replacement in a few years and a SuperSport V4 would fit my needs very well. By then I'm also hoping it will be in a Corse livery with 200 HP, electronic Ohlins, forged Marchesinis etc.

  9. Thats about where I am. Spent Sunday giving mine a deep clean and tucked it away for winter. As much as I like shiny new things, I do like this bike.

  10. That new Triumph looks more appealing to me than the new Multistrada. If that’s the kind of thing you’re after of course.

Let’s see what today’s announcement brings. My guess it’ll be warmed over versions of the Panigale and Supersport as opposed to anything radical. Oh for a V4 1200 slightly larger Superdoopersport with all the toys.

  11. This is a new Tracer for 2021. New bike altogether with semi active suspension.

  12. And a 6 speed constant mesh gear box with reverse ! :joy: Andy

  13. I think it’s a bit dangerous to quickly dismiss bikes from the big Japanese factories. I say this because the reason I fell in love with Ducati was not because they were the most reliable or sensible bikes, but they had a soul So difficult to find from Japan. With this in mind I forgave Ducati all its foibles and horrid urban riding etc as the benefits and pleasure found when unleashing the beast was so rewarding. However the newer generation Ducati’s I find are very much loosing that personality, therefore getting closer to the refined feel of Japanese bikes, so when now looking at new bikes it’s no so easy to dismiss the competition. I say this from the experience of owning 900ss ST4s and MTS1200 2013. Personally I find it a shame that Ducati seeks to get closer to the competition in terms of suppressing the noise and vibration and characteristics of previous models. From what I see in the luxury goods market (I’m in it) today’s winners are the ones who absolutely set out their stall and say this is what we do , we are different to the others and here is why, that’s what I bought into in becoming a Ducati owner. Now not 100% sure as I don’t see a bike I would rush out and buy in the offering.

  14. Tracer is quite light at 220kg Wet. :bucktooth:

I think one of the biggest issues with the new v4 is that its going to be a little on the “stocky” side.
    The 1260 was 209kg Dry / 232kg Wet.
V4 is advertised as 217kg Dry which will put it in the region of 240 kg wet. Heading the wrong way

  15. I wonder how much of that weight is in the exhaust to get to euro 5 standards ??

  16. What baffles me is, who was clamouring for radar on bikes?
    Scenario:
Your sat at a set of lights. Day/night a vehicle comes hoofing up to your delicate derrière at speed. Your dash tells you it’s happening so what do you do? Jump off? In the split nano second you have left before your an RTC sandwich filling!!!

  17. Probably a fair chunk, the challenge with Euro 5 will be at MOT time, like many I have a full decat system on mine and other than a questionable noise level there shouldn’t be much problem at MOT time. Under Euro 5 (unless dropped during Brexit) MOT will include automatic full reportable emissions results including for the first time non-methane hydrocarbons. Only way to pass that MOT will be swap the exhausts back over.

  18. But equally dull! Don't get me wrong, they make good bikes, but there's no soul or character. I very nearly ordered a Tenere 700 without a test ride, but am so glad took one out, as it was just bland. Nice, but bland. I test rode the KTM 790R, and bought one. It was a no brainer.
