1260 Ducati Multistrada 1260 V4 !! 190hp

  1. Q: Why did I replace a Panigale with a Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak?
    A: I needed a Sport Bike (which I can track) that could occasionally accommodate "two-up" comfortably.

  2. I agree, the Enduro was for those that wanted an adventure tourer.
     
  3. The BMW S1000XR is a sports adventure bike, and they sell shed loads in Europe. On a trip to Italy a couple of years ago, we saw twice the number of XR’s than GS’s. The new one seems to be doing rather well, too. I think Ducati are focussing too much on GS sales.

  4. For me, the SuperSport could never be a replacement for the 1260 Multi. The ergos just wouldn’t work for me, and many others, I’m sure.
     
  5. In my experience going from an upright adv sports tourer to a sports tourer is a backward step for 2 up touring. Forget the wheel size or sssa, the mrs didn’t like the seating position with me leant forward, she said it made her feel unconnected and more vulnerable, she said the difference between the SX and the Multi was night and day

  6. I just don't think there is a big enough market for a Supersport V4.

    Apart from the KTM GT and Ninja SX, what other bikes are there of the same vein? VFR i guess but that is an ancient design.
     
  7. Popped to my dealers to have a look at the Multistrada V4 and bought a 1260 Pikes Peak and it’s a keeper!

  8. If the new Multi was what we actually wanted I would argue it would outsell the 'enduro' version just as the 1260 road did

  11. Wow. That's why I love this forum so much.
    Many different viewpoints, all good and respectable.

    I've ridden the relatively new SuperSport a few times. The ergos are very Multi like. Look at the seat height relative to the handlebars.
    It's underpowered once you've had a 1260 Multi.

    I agree with this. The Multi is better for two-up riding comfort. A SuperSport may be a step backward in this respect.
     
  12. Agreed. Surely the Versys 1000 would be more of a comparison. Especially for two up.
    Not a fan of what they have done with the Multi. Most bikes look far better in the flesh though in fairness. Had the 2010 Multi when it first came out. Loved it and then went round all the brands. Recently bought the 1250 GS as it was the only brand I had never owned. Wife loves it and it surprised me too. Still wish I had gone for the 1260 though for pure sexy looks.

  13. I think the Supersport exists for those who won't or can't pay full fare for a panigale.
    A V4 motor in the Supersport is going to get the price closer to a panigale.
    My age and body shape needs an upright seating position so a V4 Supersport won't be a good fit for me.

  15. Nah, sat on one. We were a bad match:D
    Looks like a nice bike, ergonomics don't suit me.
    Get the feeling they'll keep it as a twin, an affordable entry for sports/track day riding.
