  1. If I have my key fob and press the recovery button the bike Turns on without the need for the pin code, so it must read the transponder because if I remove the key fob it asks for a pin code.

  2. Hmmm then this leads me to think the transponder in the key fob is different from that of the passive key?? As my passive key will not allow me to turn my bike on.

  3. Oh I see, interesting, I haven't tried that.

  4. The plot thickens... o_O If the bike is seeing the presence of the fob key then it sounds like the antenna is working OK. Faulty button on switchgear or associated wiring?

IIRC the key update was just the shell of the fob (was on my 2018 1260s), they moved the blade and innards over. So no reprogramming of the ECU to accept a new key otherwise I'd suspect that the maybe the passive key was somehow deregistered at that point.

  5. I spoke with Ducati and as they tried to reprogram a new key I has deleted the passive key this is why it’s not working, I have to send both keys down with the bike next week.

  8. @Bumpkin had a problem with the starting switch last week at the EMM event. Bike would start and then turn off straight away. We managed to get it going but it failed on a narrow mountain road later in the day (with no phone coverage). Luckily it bump started and then Ducati dealer in Nice swapped out the switch from a customer bike. It was an incredibly frustrating issue as it occasionally worked.

  9. As per @Twin4me's post; frustrating intermittent fault that we thought we manged to resolve only for it to return at the most inopportune location. Big kudos to Ducati Nice that fixed it by replacing the RH switch cluster, which we were already convinced was the issue. The tech did a through job, checking the wiring first just to eliminate that then took a switch from another bike to test. Big thanks to him and the service manager who gave a discount on the part as well as only charging for 30 mins labour despite at least 1:15 of time used. Without their sympathetic attitude I would have been stuck there for at least 2-3 days with the added expense of more hotel time there and changes to my return schedule, lost hotel bookings/payments etc. Could have easily run to another £1k in total.

The OPs issue sounds like exactly the same symptoms.

  10. Think I'll take my bike to Nice if I have a problem! A fine example of great help & service.

  11. Yep, was so grateful I had no hesitation giving them €50 beer money to split between the two of them. They seemed happy with that.
