In fact, hang on Mary. My diary has freed up and I’m on my way. Save me a slot in Advanced this pm please. You will recognise me, I will be on my Ducati.
I remember Josh Brooks joined us at Donington one day. I spotted him passing 5 riders on the brakes into Redgate. The dangley legged (fast) fucker. Which reminds me, there’s nowt funnier than following a complete throbber that dangles his leg before turning in. Puts you right off Don’t do it unless you’re other worldly fast….
Funny, I was daydreaming about this earlier. There's gotta be a reason for the dangle... lots of fast riders do it now. I've seen quite a few theories put forth on youtube, but I think I understand the real reason. I used to do Karate. Knowing your reach is extremely important. Before smashing bricks or wood, we'd feel out the distance with our hands/feet while focusing on the object. Makes it much easier to put the energy where you want it and at the right level. The dangle therefore, is a way to get a feel for where the tarmac is (before you smash it ) No not really. I think its a way to stabilse the bike on the brakes because a fat heavy leg has been moved out and down. I'm gonna try it on my next trackday (Donny, 26th). Hope you lot are all behind me, laughing your nuts off
I can tell you why I do it, and it’s nothing to do with speed and everything to do with lack of flexibility! Taking my boot off enables me to more easily get back on the peg in the right position. No air brakes here
That was another reason I had considered. And also ill-fitting leathers. Get a stretch in before the corner
whatever anyone posts now - do not be tempted to volunteer the "rider sit up on approaching bend" reasoning at this point.
