Ducati Ss Cafe Racer

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by ck_uk, Nov 18, 2017.

  1. So, I'm starting a project tomorrow that will pull some ideas off this Union bike. The reason the Union bike works is because the lines from the nose fairing matches the tail. I personally think Ducatis are quite difficult to visually make "cafe racer" (for me the black and yellow is a "muscle bike" not a cafe) due to the visible kink in the frame, but hiding it in black makes it 'move to the back' so the line of the nose fairing pops especially in white, the lines become pronounced. There is some great resources about visualising a bike on the bikeexif website, ideas about waistlines etc...

  2. PS: i think the Union bike probably wouldn't work if the nose fairing wasn't there.

  3. I mocked up this image many years back... Shooting for something along these lines. Maybe the exhausts are a tiny bit too long! ;)

I wonder how easy it is to bash aluminium into sexy bodywork...gotta be easy right? ;)

  6. I know someone who built almost that exact bike, I'll find a picture

  7. Here you go, based on an SS with a 620 motor.

  8. What a beauty

  9. Kev built 3 really great bikes for racing. My favourite was a black SS with under seat exhaust. Lines were perfect.

  10. I love that 1980s look. Nearest I get is this.
