Here is my 848 Evo. I've had it since December last year and I have to say it's love. I've been an ardent Honda man ever since I learned to ride but always held the view that every biker has to own a Ducati at some point in their life! It certainly hasn't disappointed so far. It might not be just as quick from point to point as my previous Fireblades but it is such an enjoyable bike to ride. I'm new to V-twins too and I'm definitely a convert! The bike is one of the last run of bikes (registered 2014) and has only got 400 miles on the clock. I intend on adding a few more this summer along with a couple of track days too. Modification-wise I haven't done much. Akrapović carbon slip ons, K&N filter, Healtech servo buddy (cables removed), DP Superpole seat, DP carbon mudguard, DP pillion seat cover, R&G tail tidy, R&G fork protectors, R&G under body crash protectors and DP tank protector. That's about it so far. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading my suspension and fitting a slipper clutch but those might be a bit down the line. Here she is:
My 899 Panigale. Recently sold my GSXR750 L1, I've never been so obsessed by a bike like i have this one. My first V-twin so it's taking some used to! Mods so far; Evotech upper and lower radiator guards. Evotech tail tidy. 1199 smaller rear indicators. Ducati Corse lower fairing decals. OEM seat cowl. Not sure what to do next. Any ideas?
Definitely get the rear shock off to MCT so they can rebuild it so that the oil flows properly and it doesn't 'lock out' when hitting fast bumps. It's made an incredible difference to the feel of the rear of my bike.
Finally got my bike back together after a prolonged spring clean and the larger capacity 18L aluminium tank came back from paint.
Your wish etc.. This belly pan is a FullSix one. Came from Carbon Trader and is really well made. No fitting issues either.
Oberon bar end indicators, CRG 2" blindspot mirrors and Carbon Trader mirror blanking plates. Does away with the standard mirrors and you can see things behind you, which I find strangely useful!
Thanks mate, a great idea, will do the same. Not cheap though the Oberon indicators are they? :weary:
Got the tank from e-bay. Was a 1198s Corse tank with the black/white/red stripes at the bottom so required a respray. They don't come up very often, as you can imagine, and i did see another forum member say he got one for about £400, which is cheap. I paid more than that and then had to pay for the paint. Paint was done by Image Design Custom. They do a lot of Harley paintwork and their work is absolutely stunning, but again not cheap. As for the Oberon stuff, yes it can be more expensive than other makes, but it is good quality and I think looks really neat. Attached pic shows indicators close up. Overall I have spent quite a lot on the bike, but it's now how I wanted it and I have another 30 miles or so range on the tank, which on the 1198 in Scotland where there isn't a fuel station every 5 miles is quite important.
Thanks for the indicator pictures, looks really good. Had those mirrors on my SF and found them ok, will order up today. Agree on the tank, its a pain in the arse having to fill up for every journey i do.
They're not as big a mirror the originals and slightly convex (concave???), BUT they do not vibrate at all and show plenty of whats behind. Best mod i've done in my mind..
Incidentally, my fuel light still comes on at 95 - 100 miles even with the larger tank. I'm guessing the level indicator mech is still calibrated for the plastic tank shape.
Have you ever had them on the other way round, so they project over your hand rather than away from, to reduce the overall width? @CWhizz
Maybe they lied and it's not actually any bigger HAHA! Might try a run to actually drain the tank completely and see when the light comes on and how much reserve there is. You ever tried that?
