Well despite, the gloomongers and having ridden all of the last 3 years at Ducati days I am looking forward to a DRY Donington on Tuesday. Won't have my wets with me this year as I will be riding up tomorrow. There were some dodgy riders(racers) at silverstone last year and I was in a mood to introduce myself to them but calmed down a bit. I love track days, I'm not a racer and I'm not especially quick but overall, the days are enjoyable, unless I modify mine or my friends bikes! Good banter and keep the coffee coming. Most Trackday organisers are ok and do,warn riders when they get silly but the nature of the day lends itself to a bit of over enthusiastic antics. Look forward to meeting up with fellow forum members.
I'm up at Donnington supporting @MissPineapple on her new triumph 675 Daytona track bike today. It's looking promising so far, overcast but dry. Can't wait to get the Panigale on track tomorrow
Just arrived at Donny hoping to walk the track tonight but no access to the paddock until 0700 tomorrow, bit disappointing we can't get in till tomorrow and the attitude of the security guard on the main gate wasn't great either!
Wish you were here! I was supposed to be Umbrella Girl for @MissPineapple but after seeing a few Panigales I thought I'd chance it. By some miracle I managed to do ok with the driveby noise regs and have an epic day. I need to check the vids but I'm fairly confident I got into the 1 min 47s today. Definately consistently doing 1 min 48s. Pretty stoked as it's just over a year since my first track days here at Donnington a few months after getting my bike licence last year. I got 1 min 54s on the Honda Fireblades at the Haslam race school and wasn't sure I'd be able to match it as they are very flattering bikes and easy to ride. Dave Mackay who is doing the TriOptions series really helped me along by letting me hook on to his lines. Amazing that he is lapping 10 seconds quicker on his 899 than me on my 1199s, and the leading TriOptions guys are a fair chunk quicker still. Looking forward to tomorrow, the forcast actually has sun involved as well so should get some good pictures of Ducati porn!
Just sitting in the briefing. They are taking a very hard line on any hard passes @andyb will be happy
Pmsl they did last year too. Hopefully with Donington being last weekend you won't get too many racers using it for testing
Don't think I can go back to UK trackdays. Especially FE run ones. Too much rain and daft arse rules, like more sighting laps after lunch... WTF is that about? Just back from Almeria with Tracksense. Great fun. No sighting laps... at all and asked to respect other riders with overtakes. Not one bust up in 4 days... And nice small groups meaning loads of clear dry super grippy track! Yey! Hope you guys have a great day today. I've been to the last two and it pissed down. You're due some good luck weatherwise.
Good lad. You'll love it. September should be good climate wise. We just had a bit of heatwave out there. It was getting into the 30's C. Getting in and out the leathers was messy.... Too hot, but you forgot about it by turn 1
Yeah I'd been out first session on the 748 but when I came in the back wheel was covered in swarf, the Cush drives had backed out so used the 998 instead, it looks a lot worse than it is and other than a stiff shoulder I'm fine, ended up doing the afternoon on this beauty What a trusting fella
